Yes, I tested and posted this solution in the other 128 steps thread.
Just midi sync limitations with other gear.

You can record 128 steps dividing tempo by 2, and set scale to x2. Set RLEN to 64, done. Fastest to setup !

When RLEN = MAX, I think you’d still need to set the pattern to play for 128 steps, no?

Depends, if you’re recording external audio or internally.
Internally, if you have 128 steps samples, you can play them with 1:2 trig condition.
Recording time doesn’t depend on pattern length, unless you use QREC=PLEN to quantize.
