Record Analog Rytm then loop it

Hey there,

I want to do something seemingly very basic but its still not really working for me. I have the analog rytm hooked up to input AB and going to track 1 via a pickup machine. At some point in the song, I want to be able to record the rytm on the octatrack for as long as the active pattern is and automatically turn the DI off when the recording is done and play back that sample. This way I can start building a new drumtrack in the rytm and slowly eq out the recorded drum loop. Not really able to wrap my head around that!

Maybe someone can help?

I’d use scenes for this type of transition. I’d also use a flex machine rather than a pickup machine.

I think I’d use a pattern change to switch to the sample (recording played by a FLEX), with AR synced. That way you automatically have a “blank” pattern on the AR.

Pattern 1 : rec trig, no Flex trig
Pattern 2 : no rec trig, Flex trig
