Random triggers?

I was reading a music radar article about the Digitakt and it says the following:

  1. Random triggers - Parameter locking ‘sample select’ allows you to have several samples triggering randomly or sequentially from a single sequence trig/step for really mangling beats.

Have I missed something? Is there really a way to use p-locks to have several samples randomly trigger from a single Trig?

No. Just music radar writers not clearly regurgitating the manual.

That behaviour can be achieved using a LFO on sample slot. Is it correct?

That’s what I was thinking. I guess you can lock some steps to random LFO amount 0 and some at 3 or 4 to make only certain steps play random samples?

Yes, exactly.
You have to put the samples in the pool using a correct sequence: the samples that you want randomly played need to stay close. Let say…

  1. Sample A
  2. Sample B
  3. Sample C
  4. Sample D
  5. Sample E

Set the sample slot for track in the middle (slot 3 Sample C).

With an LFO amount of 2 it ranges from 1 to 5 (3 +/- 2).
You can use a triangle wave form to obtain a sequence (A, B, C, D, E, D, C, B, A) or you can randomly choose with the random waveform.

Thanks for the info, will certainly save me some time figuring out how to get it working
