Question about preparing for my first live set with the Analog Rytm

I have played live before, but this is my first time using the RYTM, so I just want to make sure i do things right. I appreciate everything!

So before I got the rytm, I was only using the Arturia Beatstep Pro and modular rack, so my master clock was coming from the BeatStep Pro.

Now that I have the RYTM, I still have the master clock coming from the BSP, so when I press play, both the rytm and BSP link together. wonderful!

However, I have a question about the length settings on the RYTM. (when you press function page)
I usually have my project/pattern length at 1024. It works for me, but I am wondering if this is OK for an hour long set before it resets? I don’t want to put the length at infinity, because I noticed I cant switch through kits/patterns smoothly that way for some reason.

Please let me know what are some proper settings to put on my RYTM for a live set to prevent the RYTM from resetting and starting back at 1 in the middle of a set, hope that makes sense!

Any other tips on properly setting up my RYTM for live success are very appreciated!

1024 will reset eventually and if you have different scales they will jump, you can put it in infinity and use DIRECT START/JUMP instead of SEQUENTIAL to switch patterns

Is there a way I can measure how long 1024 would be?

well, depends on the bpm and page scale, for standard 16 steps and scale x1 that would be:

1024/16 steps = 64 bars, so for 120bpm that would be

  • 1 bar = 2sec
  • 64 bars: 2*64 = 128 sec or ~2 minutes

you can use a calc to see length of bar in seconds and just multiply it by bars that fit in 1024 steps:

I just hit stop and start to reset my clock if things are drifting.

Practice this before doing it live, obviously
