Q Project: Reverse-Engineering Sounds

I’m starting this thread as a collaborative sound design project where we try to recreate specific synth sounds from music tracks, using whatever you’ve got—hardware, software, or modular.

The goal isn’t a perfect 1:1 cloning, but working through how a sound might have been made. Different interpretations are encouraged, including taking a sound in a different direction. The idea here is exploration and comparison, not to necessarily reach a uniform conclusion.

To keep things readable, try to stick to a simple format when posting future challenges:

At 0:48, there’s a stab-like hit that feels like a good entry point for this project. Also around 3:12, there’s the related pad sound that’s more sustained and exposed, which might be easier to analyze. Either one works as a good starting point.

Sound 2 - Pad

Alright here’s my attempt at making a version of the pad sound.
