Following my post about the op-1 field crashing the push 3 when plugged in via the usb a port. I have now found it was a power related issue. When I plugged in the push3 to the power supply it works perfectly.

Got my push 3 standalone today and while i spent ages not being sure about getting SA version. However, I have to say now that I had it on for an hour or so, plugged in to the mains, but no laptop, I’m really pleased I went for the SA version. I’ve no plans to take it out and about, and even though it is quite heavy, I can see myself using it at the table and in the front rooms lots without plugging into the laptop. It’s really nice to have the constraint of a single device, without the mouse, but also know I can simply take it into my small studio/office and connect it to my laptop and eurorack for a different, although similar experience.

any recommendations for cover for the push 3?
hoping a desksaver comes out soon - seems inevitable

I saw someone mention that Decksaver posted on FB that they hope to have one out by the end of July. Any day now…

I just saved it as a PDF. Not sure if it retained all its formatting though.

Until a nice P3 case comes along I’m using a Gator g-mixerbag-1515 with some 1" thick PE foam pieces for cushion

Is it also felt on the inside? Doesn’t it leave a lot of small dust particles on the Push when you take it off?

Premature post here, I know, but I opened up my Push 3 (Controller) last night and noticed that the packaging layout makes it impossible to tell if this is an unused or a refurbished unit. (Premature because I haven’t actually fired it up.) Maybe it doesn’t matter, but with the issues others have had, I’d really rather not have a refurbished unit (especially when that is not what I paid for). Anyone know if there’s a way to tell by the serial number?

Is there some reason you think your unit is used/refurbished? Missing plastic cover on the screen? Dirty pads? Missing cables?
No. Actually I don’t think it is used, but it is possible, and with all the people on the internet talking about returning their units, I was just observing that the packaging would make it very easy for Ableton to repackage a returned unit, once fixed or cleaned up or whatever, and the next purchaser would be none the wiser. I mean, yes, it is possible that anything you buy is a return, or b-stock. But in this case, there’s no tape, there’s no seals, nothing to cut, just a box that opens, a slip cover with no seal, and three unsealed boxes for the accessories.
Having inspected mine closely, I do not believe it is a return. Not a single smudge anywhere, screen protector has a couple of small bubbles, but looks fresh. Most importantly, everything (so far) seems to be in good working order.

The minimization of plastic seals, tape, etc seemed to me to be about maximizing the recyclability and minimizing the environmental impact of the packaging. It doesn’t seem like cheap packaging either – clearly some design work went into it. Recent gear purchases from Apple also seem to be moving in the same direction.
I have no special insight into Ableton’s manufacturing / packaging / shipping operations. But it seems a bit conspiratorial to suggest the packaging is designed so that it’s easier to mislead the consumer…

Just got mine. Need to get used to playing keys via the pads! But it feels very premium.
Want to learn how to create MPE drum kits myself asap.
