Push 3 Users Thread

Standalone

Yeah, the live Push 3 video (and accompanying tutorial) he made was the one I was referring to.

Ah ok nice. Yeah Id be a bit nervous to do a live set with it ATM, but I can see it being a GOAT at that once the firmware matures.

Saw somewhere on here that Ableton may or may not be forced to move to a diff chip for push 3 in the near future?? My standalone order is ready for me to pay - should I wait to buy or go for it?

anyone absolutely regretting the purchase for whatever reason?!

Can’t advise you on buying or not, but I don’t have regrets.

I saw the news about Intel pulling out from manufacturing NUCs, but from reading some of the more nerdy Reddit finds (about hacking Push) when Push was first released, I have the feeling it’s gonna be alright.

The biggest question doesn’t seem to be about chips, as Intel will keep doing what Intel is known for, but it should be a question about the housing the computer guts.

After all, the controller works with or without the NUC parts. My question (as I don’t know) is wouldn’t this run as a standalone with anything that could run their version of Linux and the Standalone version of Live?

Alright… I’m curious. Fucking FOMO. @Dataline you’re going to have another sale on the tutorial.

Anyone else running OTO FX boxes in and out of the Push audio interface? My levels are really low and I’m not sure why.

When I turn [Active] off the signal is fine, but the wet audio effect signal is weirdly quiet. I experimented with switching the pre-amp to HIGH and it sounds about right, but I haven’t had to add a db boost when running these boxes through my 18i20. I also have to turn the audio up to 20db in Push settings to hear anything at all.

Here are the audio specifications for the Bim and Bam devices:

And here’s the readout on the Push:

Are you using the headphone out to the boxes, or the main outs? Because the headphone output is much lower.

Now I did need to do the same thing with changing the preamp to High Gain when I recorded from MOOD the other day (headphone out, into MOOD, into Push) plus add gain in the clip view.

The only thing is that I didn’t increase my headphone output to really see where the problem is.

I have all 3 boxes, so I can check tomorrow if nobody else checks first.

I’m using the main outs. I don’t have a headphone splitter and wanted to preserve the stereo channels.

I’ll also try to test some other input sources and see how it compares to the 18i20. It may just be that the Push preamps need a lot of gain.

Anyone test out Jogging House’s new Ableton Pack? They should work as instrument racks on the Push 3 I reckon:

from the comment section

“I bought it and sounds absolutely incredible. There is so much to work with, truly gorgeous. After a lot of trial and error, I found that I was able to get the racks on the push with the samples, by saving each individual instrument rack to a separate project, saving with collect all, and then porting over the push. this way saved the racks with the samples and all of the settings. Thanks again for this amazing work.”

I am not sure why he had to do that work around, maybe it would make more sense once I saw it all in front of me in Ableton

He did the love set in controller mode, though, so maybe he also agrees with you

Not added Push 3 yet, but I’m thinking through all possible combinations and setups, so already a crisis in my head :stuck_out_tongue:

I do want to get one, but it will turn my complete setup upside down…

Since the Push3s is, besides a 100 other things, an expandable audio interface, a multitrack recorder, a sampler, a mpe controller and excels at most things when connected to the computer in comparison to my standalone versions of those mentioned tasks it’s hard not to shrink down

Kind of in the same camp.

I look at my A4 and Rytm and despite being awesome machines at many things, I see the limitations they impose, which I suppose P3S could potentially surpass or complement, if I part with one of the aforementioned…

If only ableton could bring the sequencer side on par or bring max for live upfront so different sequencers could come up.

Max can put sequencers on the Push. Check out the sequencers in the Probability Pack.

I wonder if they mean the max sequencers need to be updated to either work or be displayed correctly on the Push 3.

Almost all the Max sequencers I use don’t work in someway or another on Push 3. They work and display fine on Push 2 for me.

Maybe, but the ones I mention are built for the Push 2. They are completely integrated with the grid. I think they even work with other controllers like the Launchpads.

Okay, so I’m not getting great results using the output from Push. Not sure what you’re seeing on your end, but the volume drop starts at Push’s outputs.

I’ve tried multiple configurations (after finally settling up the 18i20 via ADAT) and they all show the same thing that the output is quiet.

This can’t be the intended result.

EDIT: I should add that I am using the OTO machines and the only way I get a decent signal on return is turning up the gain on Boum mixed with Drive. I could do the same thing as you with turning the gain up on Push, but again… this doesn’t seem like how it should work.
