I discovered today that the Corpus effect set to Membrane is insanely good for creating techno kick rumbles.

Push 2.1.5 with Live 12.1.5
Dcember 12, 2024
New Features and Improvements
- Muted drum pads LEDs now use a darker gray color and empty drum pads LEDs use a lighter gray.
- The options in a track’s context menu on Push are now controlled through the upper display buttons.
- When switching to the I/O-tab in Push’s Mix Mode while the main track is selected, the available outputs are now displayed as “Main Out” and “Cue Out”.
- When hot-swapping a Drum Sampler, you can now choose whether to swap the device or the sample inside of the device.
- When hot-swapping a Sampler, you can now choose whether to swap the device or the sample inside of the device.
- It is now possible to select a different track while the currently selected track’s context menu is displayed.
- Filters used to create a user label are now grayed out and non-selectable, and displayed with a small icon indicating their association with the user label.
- Updated the appearance of large vertical lists in order to improve readability.
- On Push 3, it’s now possible to unmap a macro-mapped parameter directly from the Device View. When touching an encoder corresponding to a macro-mapped parameter, the “Unmap” option appears in the bottom right corner of the display.
- Added a Cloud label, which allows browsing Note and Move Sets synced to Ableton Cloud from Push. The feature is currently supported when using Push in Control Mode.
- When opening a track’s context menu on Push, additional tracks can now be selected and certain actions can be performed on all selected tracks, i.e., picking a shared color or grouping selected tracks together when possible.
- It is now possible to activate Ableton Cloud on Push in Standalone Mode. To do so, open a web browser on a computer that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as Push and go to push.local/cloud. From there you will be prompted to log into your ableton.com account and accept the Cloud terms and conditions. Once Cloud is enabled, any synced Move and Note Sets will appear in the list of available Sets on Push.
- The Cloud label now includes a Sign Out option.
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue where lists were animated when first opening the browser’s filter menu.
- When auto-tags are enabled, Drum Rack presets auto-tagged with “Sounds|…” will be excluded from the Drums label.
- Push now displays a message and blocks user input while in the process of creating a new Set.
- On Push 3, grabbing control of Foot_Pedal via Max for Live now stops the native function as expected.
- Fixed an issue where tags and subtags were appearing as unavailable.
- Fixed visual glitches that occurred when displaying the list of selected filters or tags in Push’s browser.
- Emojis in macro names are now displayed correctly again on Push in Control Mode.
- You can now hold the Delete button and touch the encoder corresponding to the Gain or Transpose parameter to reset the values back to default.
- Fixed an issue where navigating several levels deep into the folder structure would prevent the folders from being displayed correctly.
- Fixed a crash in Live that occurred when using Push in Control Mode and mapping the chain activator of a MIDI Effect Rack chain to a macro.
- The Clip View on Push is now more responsive, especially when working with clips that contain many notes.
- In the Drum Sampler parameter bank, the Filter Gain parameter is now accessible when the filter type is set to Peak.
- Fixed a crash that could occur in Standalone Mode under certain circumstances.
Is it possible to ‘Remove Stop Button’ for individual clips in P3SA?
Thanks, I didn’t know that!
How do you enable auto tagging?
Resample while tweaking the source track
This has probably already been asked - apologies if so.
I’ve just recreated a rack from the latest Ned Rush video, and I want to resample it on the P3 SA while selecting different macro variations. As it stands, each time I go back to the MIDI track, it stops the recording. None of the preferences I can see appear to refer to this - is it possible?
Maybe you need to disable exclusive arm? Click the cog/settings top left and disable it, then (I think) long press each track and you should see a circle next to the track name. I’m away from my Push at the minute but at 1.45 in this video it’s explained.
Push upgrade kit finally arrived yesterday, I’ve spent a little time setting it up but I can see there’s probably a lot of prep in terms of making presets and installing a sample library.
What are some things that you all do that have made your Push SA experience smoother?
My tip would be have to have a few sessions on just the Push.
If you know Ableton it shouldn’t take much to get used to, but at the same time there’ll probably be a few niggles and annoyances as what would be simple with a mouse may take a few extra steps or just be a bit foreign until you get used to it.
Won’t take long though, and you can take notes and see what you need to add in the meantime.
Most definitely. This is one of the things the performance pack was made for. It’s not too tricky to use either. Look at the example projects in that pack to get a better idea.
Good idea, I’ve been spending a lot of time with it in controller mode in the lead up and have a few things I’ve mentally bookmarked for when I can sit down with the manual (automation is one). Navigating the interface has gotten easier and I can feel myself getting faster but still confused on a couple things.
Woahhh… I just realised the power of this, and this video was pre-macro variations in P3!
I’ve been making some presets that work as utilities to fill in some gaps in P3S functionality.
Made some drum and instrument racks with some audio effects chains. You can’t add chains on P3S but you can edit them. The audio effects are just placeholders to swap out at a later point.
I also made some drum racks from some Kontakt kits I have. They’re not perfect but close enough for sketching ideas.
I also recreated my sample folder structure in advance.
Also just spent time using what is there. There is a lot to be fair.
Can’t remember if it was here or on Ableton discord where someone mentioned the last folder visited not being retained when adding multiple samples to a kit.
If you create a drum kit. Tap a pad and use hot swap to add the sample. If you keep hot swap open and tap the next pad you stay in the same folder. It avoids the need to duplicate the pad which someone mentioned before as a workaround.
This is a great idea. I just tested by making an instrument rack with two layered synths each chain with own insert effects and was able to swap out the instruments and effects on the Push. Thanks for the tip!
No worries.
I started off making drum kits but as you say it’s also great for switching between instrument and effects chains too
So for drums would you be using these for layering up drums, for example, two kicks on one pad?
To quickly build up a kit from a particular folder or location, this is a good tip. But I still find that if I come back to adding sounds later I need to do a copy.
But thinking about it, and I’ll have to try this later. If I just use the hot swap from an existing pad, I guess I could just select the new pad that I want to assign a sound to afterwards and it’ll be from the location of the hot swapped pad.
Unfortunately that doesn’t work either.
It’s not that I want to record on multiple tracks, it’s that I want to manipulate the track that’s being recorded via resampling on another track.
this is driving me crazy, you’re not the first person who’s said this but i must be doing something wrong because it just does not work for me. if i hot swap a pad and then press another pad, it navigates to a context-dependent folder for the second pad i pressed (e.g. a snare pad from the 808 kit will go to “Device > Drums” with a “snare” filter, an empty pad will go to “Sounds”, etc). sometimes it stays in the same folder, but then loading a new sample will load it onto the first pad i pressed, not the second.
are you on push version 2.1.5 and live 12.1.5? and are you running controller or standalone?
