Push Inception!
This might sound like a really silly question, but how on earth do I drop an audio loop onto a blank clip using Push?
In the same way I might drag a loop from my samples folder from the left pane, in Ableton.
The closest I can get is getting it to appear in a simpler, which is not what I want.
I simply want to drop it in an empty clip slot.
press the user library button, second button from the left under the knob
look at the first button presses in this clip
That’s the stop clip button.
According to the manual the user library is accessed with the + button.
But when im there the only options there to add Device, Midi Track, Audio Track, Return Track.
If I go into device, I can see my samples folder, but there’s no samples visible, I assume because its not making them visible because they can’t be loaded this way.
EDIT*
Figured this out, the folders are context sensitive, and it’s a slightly confusing way to do it.
If you press + when you’re in the session view over an empty clip slot, no samples will appear in your browser.
You have to be in clip mode and then hit the hotswap button, somewhat confusing, but got it working.
Interesting. That’s roughly the price of a MX12 but prettier (debatable)
But also of Electra One (loads more functionality but without the faders).
is ableton revealing what’s coming up with you guys, like do you have an idea of what is coming next
for the P3 or are they keeping it all close to the vest?
i think if you work alot with plugins/softsynths the electra one is unbeatable.
especially the mk2 now really purged all the teething troubles the mk l had (which were not many). just combine the electra one with faderfox mx12 and your set controller wise. that would also be a versatile (and expensive) setup combined with an arturia audiofuse 16rig or rme fireface ucx/ufx ll/lll.
on the other hand the yaeltex team seem to know what they are doing, you could order a custom controller tailored to your needs and some spare parts and you would be set long time. i mean, even richie hawtin was/is using yaeltex controllers with bitwig, their stuff is no joke:
as a companion device for the push 3 imho the cheapest solution is buying an used apc 40 mk2, a novation launch control mk2, akai midimix or novation zero sl mk2. or any cheap midi controller with faders, since that is the only thing it is really lacking.
Does anybody have a (max4live?) solution for 1-handed mutes for drum-racks?
It’s one of those things I really miss at the moment and am surprised this is not implemented as there is a dedicated lock button which can lock mute but only works for the display buttons…
I guess it is not an option for you to use a midi controller for this? it does bring the advantage of having those mutes always available, freeing push to do other stuff.
Another alternative - even though I have not tried User mode, and don’t even know how it works - might be to assign pads to this behaviour. It would still require one button press to get to UM but would eliminate the need to use 2 hands
It is a possibility but as I’m already using the pc12 I’m a bit reluctant to add more midi control
I am considering using 4 of the buttons for mutes of 4 most used drum sounds but it’s not an ideal solution.
I’ll have a look at user mode. Don’t really have a clue yet what it is or how to set it up
@DaveMech could you tell us more about your current “Push” setup ? Is it only Push3+pc12 ?
Do you see it more as a new setup ? Or will you be using it together with your Elektron gear ?
Still saving for the SA version (gotta save as I am not ready to get rid of any of my current boxes yet
)
Currently it’s:
Push, Perkons, PC12, Model 1.4 (+Torso t1 probably)
And do you plan to add your Elektron gear in it ?
Initially it was the plan but in it’s current state the possibilities are already vast while having it under control. So I doubt I’ll add anything else for now. There’s a “flying synth” input left on Push that I can fill with an elektron if I want in the future. However, I’ll be using my elektron line-up to create textures, sounds, little percussive loops and what not that I can bring into push
So in a way they are part of it.
I’m just a nobody but no, aside from the beta OS releases I’ve not seen any hints at what they’re working on.
The most obvious question there is is? But whoever has a push 2, it is worth moving to 3
I still have my Push 2 but have found no reason to go back to using it after using the Push 3
Hey Dave when you’re using the torso are you using drum racks the normal way (from Push) I’m having some trouble figuring out how to isolate the midi channel only from push when also using the t-1. I logically understand how this is supposed to work but it seems that if I disable ‘all’ on the drum rack I can’t sequence it from Push
Anyone know if the fx chains in drum rack accessible from Push?
