Yes, but you have to set it up from the desktop version first (or you can do it from the External Instruments device if you use that workflow)
That’s amazing, keep everything sounding tight
ADAT bandwidth limits are 48khz up to 8 tracks, 96khz up to 4 tracks,.
Some devices have two sets of ADAT ports to get around this, ADAT S/MUX, which also allows for 2 channels at 192khz per pipe.
What I’m saying is there’s no real advantage in the standalone if Arrangements can’t be done without going back to the desktop to finish your project. ProTools Sketch has a simple solution in how you can move from Sessions to Arrangement and hopefully, Ableton can find a way to implement it to make the standalone Push 3 truly standalone.
You can record to Arrangement in Stand Alone, but at this time you can’t edit it. We’ll get there at some point i am sure.
I’m going to use the M4L Song device in the meantime.
I agree - Pro Tools Sketch is a perfect example of what Ableton should be doing. I get you can record to arrangement blindly, but there should be a simple standalone approach. Every other groove box has something like this these days. It’s clearly a frustrating design gap.
The Isla S2400 for instance has a shift+ button shortcut to send any pattern to a song arranfement, which factors the mute states. Literally can piece a full draft 6 min arrangement in about 1 minute from a single 8 track / 8 bar pattern. Then I record the draft to Abletons arranger and away I go at any remaining detailed edits.
Surely Ableton can implement something smart and intuitive for Push.
Can I ask how you do this? I’ve not managed to yet but guessed I was doing something wrong
No doubt many desired features will be added, but it will take a while. I can imagine them premiering new headline-grabbers at the same time they drop Live 12, whenever that may be
I haven’t tried it. I believe i read it on this long thread. Maybe Shift + Record would invoke record to Arrangement in Stand Alone.
I dunno maybe I’m incorrect about it. I’m ok with that for now.
I’ll need to try that at some point.
Since we have Clip view in Stand Alone i can see Arrangement view making an appearance in the near future, where it’s something like the Arrangement view on the M+. But I’ll let the brilliant UI/UX Designers at Ableton surprise and delight me when they’re ready to hopefully release it to all of us
I put it like this and it sounds all the synths on the push but not like I want. I don’t understand how to route the things to show right on the Push. I have a Roland S1 connected to the RME 1-2, a td3 to the RME 3, a Model Samples to the RME 4 and a Digitone to the RME 5-6. But all sounds when I route one of the 9 to 16 inputs to a Chanel.
So I finally started using Chromatic mode rather than the scale-locked mode. Somehow, I had just forgotten how to access it until a few days ago. It’s so much more enjoyable to play, especially during the exploration phase before I’ve settled on a format/ structure.
Unrelated, after playing around with different setups involving the P3SA, I’ve decided to start working on an album of Push-only music. No external synths. I don’t know when I’ll have time, but I really want to see if I can make the built-in Ableton instruments sounds like ‘me.’
Push June 2023.tmws (122.5 KB)
This is the file for totalmix I first saved for using adat, try that - probably will need to make some changes but useful just to troubleshoot for now maybe
Thanks, will check today
All good - and remember that adat inputs on the push are from 9-16!
Is strange, still working only 9-10 on the push 3
Honestly not sure then, but then must be internal push settings?
Don’t know. I just load your file as a workspace and try
Internal push settings I try to check but is all fine on the channels. But only is like a stereo pair only sounds
So from that file I think inputs 7/8 on rme should correspond to 11/12 on push - so if you set up a new channel and to record from 11/12 nothing?
Anybody has midi in notes working on their push? I have 2 keyboards attached to a Blokas midi hub, Wich works perfectly when connected to a P3 controller but it doesn’t when connected to P3 standalone.
Edit: My mistake, had to assign the right ports on the midi hub editor
Yes if I put it on the back sounds.
I still doesn’t understand right how works the routing on the RME window to make it work with 1-2 and 3 and 4.
