Push 2 vs Launchpad Pro for pads

Hi,

I know, I know, not directly Elektron related, but…
I have a Push 2 which I love, but not seems not very practical for live gigs/travelling due to weight and preciousness. I was thinking, how does the Launchpad Pro compare?

I am only interested in the pads, pad quality, feeling of playing, responsiveness, etc… I am not interested now in other features of the Push like LCD, knobs, touch strip, Ableton integration, etc… Just the pads. + Direct MIDI output (instead of just usb) of the Launchpad is a big thing.
And to be even more precise, while I may occasionally use it for finger drumming, my main interest is in playing it melodically (like I do it with the Push), for which the Push(2) shines.
Can’t try it myself in a shop nearby. Small city.

Best,
Zsolt

Launchpad Pro is great.

The pads are great for melodic playing, the fact you can have a configurable scale mode whilst standalone makes it really useful here.

had both. In my opinion Push 2 is miles more playable. No contest.Sold the LPpro cause I didn’t like the behaviour of the pads. You can adjust velocity and sensitivity on push far more detailed as well

Throwing my hat into the push 2 ring.

Love the pads for drums and playing. I sold my main keyboard last year, with a plan to replace. My friend suggested trying the push 2 instead of replacing the keyboard and I haven’t looked back

another vote for Push 2. Finger drumming and Melodic playing is great.

Seems like Push2 is the winner, especially only Push2 guys mentioned trying both and not in the other direction.
A bit sad, but thanks! (Of course I will still try the LPpro given the opportunity)

I tried both and I liked both. Don’t you have a place you can order from with a 14-days “no questions asked” policy for returns?

A huge benefit IMHO is that the LP Pro can be used standalone with DIN MIDI.

I will look into options about ordering. But yes, agreed, standalone MIDI is a big win, that (and money) are my main motivations regarding this.

I also tried both and found the lpp to feel quite cheap, and with pads that weren’t as responsive as I required.

I’ve tried both, bought the Launchpad Pro. I like the feel and the spacing of the pads better, it was much more portable (I play out of the studio a lot), and is adaptable to other situations than Live.

The pads felt nice on both. The reason I sold the Push 2 was because I didn’t want to be tied to Ableton Live. The Push 2 is also quite large and solid, albeit in a good way… but not in the way I’d ever want travel with. The Launch Pad felt rugged, playable, and much more open-ended. They are both well designed but excel in different contexts.
