Problems connecting a microphone

Hello I just bought a OT but I have some doubts, I need to set up the gain +63 for hace only a decent signal from my audio synths and when I connect the trumpet with a dynamic microphone (senheiser e608) the signal it’s so low that get lost on the back of the other tracks. I bought yesterday the OT (second hand) and I was worry if it can be damage, I tried in all the inputs and also with a classic shure 58 and still a really poor signal, I tried to adjust on mix , and from pickup and thru machines and still super low, almost you don’t see (and hear) when u use the zoom.

Any suggestions, it’s normal? Or I should try to speak with the person that sold me to have my money back?

Thanks

You’ll need a mic pre amp to boost the gain into the OT when using a mic. I used a cheap Art tube pre amp for years with no problems. I’ve also used a Zoom H1n as a mic with 1/8 out to stereo 1/4 adapter cable with great results. There are many options, good luck!

Gain staging is a Hugggeee topic on the OT, welcome on board

You can try boosting the signal on a THRU machine with the volume of the input on the SRC page.
There’s also the AMP page, the Mix page where you can boost the input and the compressor as an FX.
But i would strongly recommend to use a preamp as well, it would sort out your problems while enhancing the quality of your input.

U are right I connect the mic to the sp404 and the sp404 to the OT and now it’s great. Thanks a lot!
