Preview sound in sequencer before loading it

Hello there,
Some of us are quite sure that it used to be possible on the Digitone MkI to preview a sound before actually loading it—that the sequencer would play the sound while scrolling through the browser. I’m 100% certain I managed to do this at least when sending MIDI from an external sequencer to the Digitone MkI. But I can’t seem to get it to work now. Are we misremembering? Is there a hidden setting, or are our brains just playing tricks on us?

On the Digitone MkII, as far as I can tell, this doesn’t work. You can of course press the track button to audition a sound before loading it, but the notes already in the sequencer will only play the sound that’s currently loaded—not the one you’re previewing.

Any ideas for a tired mind here in the Swedish late afternoon?

Hi,

I don’t recall ever having been able to do this with Digitone but perhaps I’m the one who is misremembering.

I seem to think that I only remember this because it seems quite strange to me that it can’t…

This is the common workaround, using func+yes and func+no for temporary store and recall, but as far as I’m aware, neither 1 nor 2 has ever had a native way to preview in situ without loading a sound to the track first.

Sorry for the bad news :frowning:
