Looking for an external powerbank thats affordable for Elektron’s gear and other devices. Can anyone recommend one?
This combo works GREAT on Digitone 2 and also my Maschine+
It doesn’t work on Analog Rytm Mk1 - likely because the “PD” feature, which I believe detects the necessary voltage level to supply, gets mixed messages as the analog engine is booting up. Perhaps other have some thoughts on this.
I used to run an Analog Rytm fine on a conventional power bank which simply had little switches to set the output voltage to the proper level to power the Rytm.
I’m fairly sure that since the ‘device’ end of that connector is a dumb power plug, that the cable must be providing a fixed voltage (the cable is set to a fixed voltage I think, and tells the powerbank to deliver that fixed voltage via the usb-c connector)
If I’m right, then there’s some other problem. Like, maybe the Analog Rytm Mk1 draws a lot more power than the DN2 ? I haven’t checked.
good point! perhaps it was that all along…
The power cord needs to be fairly sophisticated to cope with startup surges for analog equipment (all those capacitors to be charged). Look at Birdcord, which specifically addresses this issue.
I’ve used a Chargetech portable power plug with my Elektrons. Worked perfectly and gives quite a lonmg battery life. I’ve also heard Polaroid has a portable power plug, it might be a cheaper option…
