I can’t be on camera, not presentable. And my voice is probably the most annoying thing you could listen to. I wish I didn’t have to hear it.
Just be “the hands” on a Tracker then…
And place word bubbles which describes what you find, afterwards.
some tracker entertainment.
anyone taking part in the challenge ?
you can win a Polyend Tracker btw
This is awesome ! Sarah Longfield back again ! (in this thread.) Listening to the samples Sarah provided to Benn is a really good reminder you don’t need an enormous studio with a lot of expensive gear to create stuff that sounds good. A DeepMind, a Volca FM, and a Strandberg guitar. OK the Strandberg guitar is fancy even though it’s only her 6 string, but she can actually play the damn thing. And you can have a sewing machine in your studio too! (I’ve kept mine in another room, but i’m going to bring it in now.
Also noted how both the samples she provided to Benn and the music she made with Benn’s samples are signature Sarah Longfield – you recognize them right away.
Benn has an amazing ear, and sense of what he’s about. I like that they teamed up on this.
Good luck to anyone who decides to compete for the gear!
EDITED:
Changed word “provide” to “create” to clarify my meaning.
+1
im a bit intimidated by trackers but the way sarah showcased the Polyend made me think twice about it.
-quick covering of basics, along w/ fx and a glitchy song was cool…maybe something i can utilized in my studio.
(maybe it might be beneficial to switch up my workflow)
only concern is: how much useful would it be from a digitakt. -i suppose that’s something i need to find out on my own.
I finally took time to dig into Tracker demo video and Loopop : this machine is huge !
Song mode is a beast and there are a lot of handy option to help move from loop to song and from the tracker to polished mix in DAW (with the stems export).
If you think I’m buying this just because of a couple of videos, you’re absolutely right. Is it June already?
The tracker is great for composing notes while the digitakt it’s a pain in the ass for that. I just ordered the tracker and i’m thinking to just use the DT if i need more tracks.
For me the fill function is the coolest feature about this device so far.
Wish my elektrons could do this. Nothing like that even in renoise I believe.
Super cool
Not only the fill, but the generative aspect about it! That, and the changeable performance Mode, the Wavetable and Granular Synth!
yes, can‘t really judge yet how good they actually sound.
Really excited to get one of these in the next few months, but is it just me or does only a stereo out and the use of dongles and such just seem like a total disapointment?
I like a robust I/O section, midi dongles and single headphone outs are nearly a dealbreaker. In fact I know someone for whom it was a deal breaker with the poked tracker. For me it results in a major handicap in my initial excitement.
I did not like the 3.5mm midi dongle approach on my arturia or korg units, none of which stuck around.
Just leave the adapter on the midi cable.
I wasn’t down with the 3.5. But had no choice when I got the M:C. I really don’t notice any difference.
My opposition to midi 3.5 ports is gone.
My last few pieces of gear have had minijack MIDI. I’m used to it now, they all play nicely with each other, and since I’ve moved to mostly desktop and portable devices, I appreciate the smaller form factors it allows.
By the way, here’s a useful hack for converting between Type A and Type B MIDI devices (I’ve personally tried and it works well):
Got the thing yesterday ! Hell fun (so much this first demo is out of tune hahaha)
That sounds real good. Love what you did with the jittery beat.
It is breakbeat from one of my tracks, I just sliced it and then torture it with pitch variations and rolls.
Anyone else preparing samples for when this baby rolls out in June? I twisted a bunch of dn sounds through some bitwig effects. Making a decent archive of sounds
Made a track for this challenge Pretty nice samples
