Polyend Tracker

If you think of it as Renoise in a box you’ll be disappointed. It’s more in-line with 8-channel MOD trackers (with some extra capabilities) than, say, Impulse Tracker or Fast Tracker. I had one, I loved it to bits, but sold it as I felt I’d done everything I wanted to with it.

For clarity I think it’s a great instrument that at times leans a little too heavily into the limitations of the era it’s drawing from, and things like stereo sample support and a few more channels would have been great for something with its form factor. If I was thinking of getting something similar now I’d get the M8, no contest.

Put FAD, OUT or CUT on the next pattern’s track.

There’s no way around not doing that I believe

As mentioned before, I’m not talking about when one pattern regularly continues to the next pattern. That would be trivially easy (like you said, put FAD at the start of every pattern). I’m talking about switching the pattern during playback. Like in the middle of a pattern.

There’s note off as well

After a few months of not using the tracker, i’ve just started work on something, saved it as a project, opened another project, but can’t find the previous project in the Projects.

Anyone know what’s happened?

How many projects are on your SD card? I remember something being said about the projects directory topping out at displaying like ~100 at most. I hope that means that in your case you have a large number of projects on your card including your “lost” one, and you just need to prune down/move stuff out of your projects directory.

Thanks Philternaut, that was actually the case.

They soon add up, but I also added a few projects from the What’s up archives and that’s pushed me well over the limit and I found some other projects i’d made on the microsd card that i’d forgotten about.

Maybe a ‘/Projects (101-200)’ could be added in a future firmware.

Does anyone have any secret (or not so secret) knowledge that this device will get USB audio out at some point?

Say what you will, but one of the biggest reasons this thing stays off more often than not in my workflow is the need for more than one cable since I have no choice but to usb power it — anyone have word that usb audio will come in a future update? If not, I don’t think the novelty of the workflow will be enough to make me want to hold on it for now.

I‘m fishing here, but: I don‘t think that comes.
At least we can write stems to card. :+1:

AFAIK and for what I have seen/read anywhere, this will not happen. But we also said that about Song Mode with Digiboxes :man_shrugging: But I suppose it will not be the case here. The focus seems on the play after 1.6 and also on the integration between the Play and the Tracker so I will more bet to see an more interactive closed set of devices than USB audio happening any time.

(I also have memories of reading, it was not possible but I do not find any source to back that up so don’t listen to me if you want to live with hope?)

I’ve gotten spoiled by TE — after they allowed OG-1 usb audio 10 years after release, it put my firmware expectations of others on a different level for sure.

I thought same as you, re closed system, that they’d use a single cable to both power from and throw audio into the Poly Play from the Tracker, but alas

I can highly recommend the course (from Matthias aka 59Perlen) if you are totally new to Trackers, like I was. The course will give you a solid base to start with your own creations. It’s definitely worth the money. Now I really miss my Tracker. I should buy one again :joy:

Thanks @Endlosregler.

I do plan on getting that soon.

Noticed Legowelt has a new free sample pack up, Jupiter 8.

Also noticed he removed the Oberheim samples, wonder why….

Some of the older links don’t work correctly either, he needs to clean up a bit.

In other news, I miss my Tracker.

Has anyone had success driving other gear from the PT?

I mean like triggering patterns rather than directly sequencing as I want to go beyond the 8 channels.

Hi!, thank you for replying.
The Tracker has a self-check function. You need to press certain keys in order to boot the Tracker into “Self-Service Mode”.
So, when I did the self-servicecheck. The tracker will record a tone from MASTER OUT into LINE IN and MIC. I got a super big errror on the LINE IN. Digital distortion from hell.
I send it to POLYEND. They fixed it. Total cost incl shipping ----> 100USD.
I would say that Polyend has a friendly and quick support.

My Tracker came without a screw in the jog wheel (I noticed today as I held it upside down and the wheel came off)

Poor quality control, but seems easy to fix. I hope Polyend will not force me to send it back for repair, I asked them to send me a screw and screwdriver so I can fix it myself.

Does anybody know if it is a standard screw that I can maybe order myself? Just in case.

Woop woop I made some Tracker vs Buchla short thing here:

It happens. I’ve had nothing but good interactions with Polyend support. I’m sure they’ll take care of you.
