Absolutely brilliant set of samples. I’m putting together a little 15 minute live set for an open mic next month and I think I’m going to go with a tracker only setup using all your samples.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow, thanks! That’s really great to read. I am humbled (no small task).
Don’t be too humbled, the set will probably be shit.
I’ve never been much into samplers before (does a Morphagene count?), but I really enjoyed the Tracker. I’m selling it now to pay for a Rytm, as I don’t need both, but it is really a fun piece of gear. Especially the radio sampling/mangling. If anyone in NYC wants to buy mine, hit me up!
So… your favorite games on the tracker?
I enjoyed bashing some SMB when the emulator was included, but quickly had concerns about the buttons lifespan.
A tracker interface should be able to handle a good beating, though…
Any interesting music games or trackers for NES?
Silly topic I know.
Edit:
‘Alter Ego’ is pretty cool (included in the games pack).
Can also recommend throwing around some trash cans in ‘River City Ransom’ (you’ll have to look for an image).
Isn’t the M8 screen tiny and hard to read in comparison? Also it only has hex editing, right?
But… that’s the good part!!! ![]()
A little bit, but you can connect the M8 in a laptop and use that screen
Yes… but none of those are a real show stopper for me. I get confused past 64 beats on the tracker anyway. I do most of my editing by ear and pressing the rec button when i want my sample to play.
But as long as the m8 doesn’t have real slicing it’s out of the equation anyway
Yo ! I hope you guys are all doing great. I have made a new big video about controling a CV synth setup with the Tracker and Poly 2, for those here who might be interested.
This evening at 19:00 French time ![]()
Dr Mario!
SMB3 is a timeless classic, as are both Legend of Zelda games. Contra is decent. Probably the best would be Mega Man II, that game is classy.
I have a vast collection of NES ROMs left over from when I obsessed with emulation, if anyone wants then drop me a line.
My problem with playing NES games on the Tracker is that the ‘d-pad’ is on the right and the AB buttons are on the left, making for an unnecessarily uncomfortable experience.
Blasphemy.
You probably got the left-handed PT version.
Would be great to use MIDI IN for the controller.
I doubt that’s possible, guessing that the emulator code is a separate boot option and some kind of open source emulator they simply included.
Many users have complained why they included this, before fixing other bugs etc. But I don’t think they spent much time on this.
I thought it was a great idea, and right on time for lockdown xmas.
Thanks for the tips.
btw if you haven’t tried River City Ransom, it’s pretty funny.
Edit: use MIDI IN, and program your moves in a sequencer.
Paper Tiger Polyend Tracker Artist Edition or PTPTAE for short ![]()
People will complain about anything. It was a proof of concept and good fun. The screen works really well for those old games, they look like they’re being displayed on paper!
I remember River City Ransom, never owned it myself but have magazines with reviews. The NES was part of a magical era of gaming before the SNES took things up a notch.
So true.
I just get a warm feeling hearing the old SMB soundtrack.
My mum can still hum most of them. I put her through a lot of videogame music.

Comes pre-loaded with samples of me requesting that people go potty and wash hands before dinner, grumbling about winter and dry hands, and interrupted conversations with my husband as a three year old dinosaur roars by.
I can’t wait…
