Man, I was hoping these would be in plentiful supply before my birthday in September…
I think a few people keep saying the same inaccurate perception of Polyend from a couple of incidents that occurred and won’t let it go.
Visit backstage and interact on their forums and in the open chat. Just like during the Github days they are taking wishes and implementing them. Lots of interaction from Polyend team members.
It still might happen. Plenty of other good gear out there. Not a lot of portable tracker hardware though. It will be interesting if any of the big players enter the scene.
Wish nerdseq would get theirs out. Has been forever
Right? Not a fan of the interface though. The m8 does a better technical tracker UI, and the Mini simplifies it even more.
I’m not super fussed, it’s just an interesting combo of form factor, power and an interface I’ve not tried before.
OP1 has shown me I’m a programmer, not a live performer
Update from Signal Sounds, Tracker Mini delayed shipping until August now
I’m still quite interested in seeing this being used by other people than themselves. It doesn’t really look all the comfortable in the hands, and it looks like the hands have to shift around to work the buttons. I could see it be a reasonable size for the sofa, though, but it looks as if you could very easily damage the minijack port if you have it resting in your abdomen or thighs?
This is encouraging and I’m still intrigued, but overall I wonder if the Push 3 isn’t better for me. I know, totally different use cases and price tiers, but I’m just not sure I’m interested in learning yet another workflow that won’t lead to the ability to produce the final track with ease.
would like to see it with external controllers on this
If you’re not sure if the Tracker way of working is for you, check out a free version on a computer first. That way you’ll save the chore of buying something and realising it doesn’t work for you. If you try it and like the flow then you’ll definitely enjoy the more portable approach using the PT, the PT mini or the M8.
…when I say YOU I really mean anyone who isn’t sure if the Tracker approach to making music is for them. Try it for free with no strings attached.
Nice, I’m really interested how it’ll be implemented. If live recording is possible, I really hope classic tracker step sequencing is too (setting step length and playing in the notes, note-offs and rests).
Look like it has class compliant audio, so it could even serve as a portable sequencer and audio/midi interface for iOS. Currently thinking about SP-404 for this purpose, which could also be a controller for Koala sampler, but it’s a bit bulky and sequencer is nothing to write home about (skip-back sampling seems very useful though).
Anyone else heard of a shipment date for the first preorder batch yet?
Is there a hands-on review for this yet (other than the one from the guy who was involved in creating it) ?
In particular because:
AUDIO Parasites, the Australia-based creators of the lovely Machinedrum, Monomachine and Eurorack faceplates, have designed this lovely thing for the Polyend Tracker Mini.
That would be a nope
Polyend is sharing shipment updates on their Backstage forum. According to their last update, shipping should start… any moment now.
I really cannot wait. I loved the tracker and to have it in my bag on the work commute will be a game changer. I already have a space on my desk ready for it.
Syntakt is master, Eurorack for sound design and samples and Tracker will be main sampler but also idea machine when out and about.
