Simultaneously play three different engines. It’s way more than a multi-timberal. Play built-in sequencers or enter notes live. All engine parameters, effects, macros, and grid settings can be saved as an instantly recallable Scene.
Very initial thoughts. Looks pretty cool and well priced. I just ordered a tracker mini, which is annoying as this would have interested me - it still might though as I like the concept.
On the product page it says there are sequencers, not sure what type of sequencers yet.
As far as engines go, the machines they have in common are VAP, ACD, WTFM and FAT. The Synth also has PHZ - phase distortion engine, PMD - physical modeling engine, WAV - a new wavetable engine, GRAIN - a granular engine.
Watched the Thomann video and not seeing anything groundbreaking. I mean, if you are looking for a $500 synth and don’t have one go nuts I guess. But I feel like these Polyend releases are kinda aimed at existing customers looking to check boxes in their Polyend catalog.
Oh cool, yeah, the website doesn’t let me scroll sideways on the “synth engine” graphics section. I bet there are more hiding from me. It says there are 8 engines total.
i predict an endless thread full of 'why cant these synths be on the tracker, tracker +, play , play + ’
it looks like the same device, (its black , a screen and buttons) …
its not fair
boo hoo
and obviously - every feature from all of their devices ever made or its a consipiracy for FORCE you to buy multiple boxes.
Ok yeah I was skimming through the sonic state video and didn’t see a section dedicated to sequencers so I assumed there wasn’t one. That being said, the picture on the site makes it look like a very simple sequencer, like something that’s on the OP-1.
I dunno. For $50 less you can get an Ableton Move which may not have as many synths but does have a sampler, more tracks, battery, wifi upload for projects…
Worth is keeping in mind that DN2 is also twice the price.
This does sit in a pretty awkward space against Move, though. it wins on sound design and potentially performance if you’re a grid keyboardist, but that starts to look like an awfully small niche.
