Polyend Synth

Polyend Synth just announced. $499.

Simultaneously play three different engines. It’s way more than a multi-timberal. Play built-in sequencers or enter notes live. All engine parameters, effects, macros, and grid settings can be saved as an instantly recallable Scene.

Very initial thoughts. Looks pretty cool and well priced. I just ordered a tracker mini, which is annoying as this would have interested me - it still might though as I like the concept.

pretty cool stuff for $500

So it seems to be the engines on the Play+ and Polyend Tracker+ but in a dedicated box without the sequencer?

With all those pads I’d expect a sequencer!

Didn’t see that coming. Looks interesting.

Yay for Poly Aftertouch (and therefore velocity sensitivity too), but boo for no sign of a built in battery.

The homepage says there’s a sequencer

“built in sequencers” according to the email.

So three part multi timbral, which is a bit meagre even at $499 price point

EDIT: Sorry I clearly mean “timberal”

On the product page it says there are sequencers, not sure what type of sequencers yet.

As far as engines go, the machines they have in common are VAP, ACD, WTFM and FAT. The Synth also has PHZ - phase distortion engine, PMD - physical modeling engine, WAV - a new wavetable engine, GRAIN - a granular engine.

Edited: Corrected for synth engines.

Model:Cycles killer? /s

Watched the Thomann video and not seeing anything groundbreaking. I mean, if you are looking for a $500 synth and don’t have one go nuts I guess. But I feel like these Polyend releases are kinda aimed at existing customers looking to check boxes in their Polyend catalog.

Seems like it does have WTFM. This is pretty interesting but the existence of DN2 with FM DRUM kind of makes it DOA imo.

Oh cool, yeah, the website doesn’t let me scroll sideways on the “synth engine” graphics section. I bet there are more hiding from me. It says there are 8 engines total.

No Loopop video (yet), which possibly means he’s busy with the TE PO-X-Y!?

i predict an endless thread full of 'why cant these synths be on the tracker, tracker +, play , play + ’
it looks like the same device, (its black , a screen and buttons) …

its not fair
boo hoo  :sob:

and obviously - every feature from all of their devices ever made or its a consipiracy for FORCE you to buy multiple boxes.

Ok yeah I was skimming through the sonic state video and didn’t see a section dedicated to sequencers so I assumed there wasn’t one. That being said, the picture on the site makes it look like a very simple sequencer, like something that’s on the OP-1.

I dunno. For $50 less you can get an Ableton Move which may not have as many synths but does have a sampler, more tracks, battery, wifi upload for projects…

Worth is keeping in mind that DN2 is also twice the price.

This does sit in a pretty awkward space against Move, though. it wins on sound design and potentially performance if you’re a grid keyboardist, but that starts to look like an awfully small niche.

And has 5.3 times as many parts/tracks
