Hello Elektronauts !Please help me with midi connections . I have Analog four mk 2,Analog rytm mk2,Digitone,Nordlead 2x,Behringer neutron. i Want control my analog 4 and digitone from nordlead( i want use 2 channel, a and b slots) )
This my current setup but in this case i cant play on digitone)
If your image is drawn correctly, the answer is that the midi of the Nord is blocked at the A4. Midi out only transmitts midi generated by the device. To daisy-chain midi devices, the thru-ports are needed.
You could do this:
- Nord midi-out --> A4 midi-in
- A4 midi-thru --> Digitone midi-in
- Digitone midi-thru --> AR midi-in
An other chain would also do. Just use the midi-thru ports
I wouldn’t recommend to create a midi-loop by connecting the Nord as shown in your image, unless you know, what you are doing.
Since you have three sequencers going, you have also to decide, which of them shall be the master clock to synchronize your setup.
Thank you) Master is A4.I already connect as you sad ,i can play on A4,Digitone,but no sync (a4 with digi). I supose the probles in midi thru. As far as i know midi thru copy input signal to out,nordlead cant generate midi clock and the midi sends to a4 without master clock.Am i right?)
No, not in general. There are some midi ports, which can mix the incoming midi with midi created by the device, but that’s not possible with most midi ports, particularly if there are three ports, including a midi-thru port. Mixing of internal and external midi is sometimes an option, if a device has only two ports, a midi-in and a combined midi-out/thru port. In this case the manual will tell, which option is activated by default and how it can be changed by the user.
AFAIK this is correct. Clock is almost only generated by gear, which has a sequencer of arpeggiator integrated. The Nord can be used as the master keyboard, but the clock has to be provided by one of your Elektrons.
Once clock is created, it is transmitted as a general clock through all connected midi-thru ports, and all boxes can be played synchronised.
All connected as you sad,no sync) Maybe you know what s the problem)
ps i am using digitones 1 and 2 midi channel to control 2 channels on Nordlead( a and b slots)
Make sure the Elektron’s have ‘Receive Clock’ turned on in the midi sync menu.
all parameters is ok) All gears send clock and recive
