Thanks about this warning!. I am already advertised about this. My only mono synth is an old MS20 and I don’t think I’m going to carry to gigs. In the studio is connected to the soundcraft submixer, so no problem.
I think i’m totally convinced on the MODEL 1, now have to decide if worth it to spend more on a new brand one or the second hand one is ok.
Between 1600 for second-hand mixer that you cannot check out and 2300 for a new one, I would go with the new one! I had to have a DSub out card replaced on my 2nd hand Model 1 (out of warranty), which cost me around 400 EUR (including labor).
Depends… my 2nd hand was a rental, handled a bit roughly, and I was happy to have been able to check it out before buying (I had a repair nevertheless after a couple of months, but this might have happened with a new one as well)…
Do you know if the screws are compatible with the Model 1?
I’m going to use to connect 2 stereo outputs of the Motu M4, Digitone and Digitakt or Tr8s.
I think it’s better this input because it’s balanced. And also more convenient to connect 4 pairs in the mixer in 1 second. But it’s ok if the digi’s and the Tr8s have a non balanced output?
Also I’m going to connect a sp404 and a re20 delay and nts1 for sending EFX.
I ordered my dsub from designacable in uk, very helpful I sent a pic of the mixer and they got the right thread, I think there is an imperial / metric thing you need to look out for. Great mixer.
DSUB IN1:
1st and 2nd pairs from the Motu M2 (Ableton or Tracktor)
3rd pair from TR8S
4th pair from another synth (digitone or tb303)
the inputs for channel 5 and 6 of the mixer is for connecting the sampler and a secondary mixer but by RCA in this case.
I think with the Cordial commented by @ccr i have enough. 30cm the thick cable and then 120cm of separated “tails”. Everything is close to the table so i think that is more than enough.
EDITED: I see where you ordered the cables from
Nice setup BTW!!, i see double: double Tempest and double mini-mixer XD
No, I don’t use this setup, but, as far as I’m concerned, if you send a mono output to one input, you have to use a cable to split the mono signal into two mono signals for the stereo input of the M1.
I think this device was more designed to mix stereo devices. If you want to mix mono signals is better a classical studio mixer, where you have mono inputs and pan controls.
I finally I got my Model 1!! Brand new from Reverb and good price.
I love the sound of that mixer. <3 Even sounding one single channel from the Motu thru the RCA input it sounds much more crear and in the face than directly from the Motu connected to the monitors.
Waiting for the DSUB cable to connect everything properly.
I know about the mono/stereo problem but with the right adapters or cables it should be possible to connect the individual outs of the Rytm to the Model 1.
With the overdrive, the individual filters, the master filter and the two aux sends, it looks like a dream combo for a Rytm-only set. And to add even more dirt, I’d route it back to the Rytm’s input.
