Pioneer USB decks - solved an issue with wavs not being recognised

In case anyone’s hit this problem, I bought some 24bit tracks from Bandcamp (actually a producer who’s a good mate, but I wanted to avoid the usual blagging tracks for free). Wavs worked OK in Rekordbox, but when I moved them to my XDJs - XDJs refused to read the files. Reported unrecognised format.

Here’s a description of the reason why:

A manual edit of the file, to over-write the 2 bytes (value 0xfeff with 0x0100) mentioned, solves the issue.

I’ve also put together a very quick MacOS script to do the job on all files within a directory. Anyone want me to drop it in here (if I can)?

@Purusha Hey bud! If you have a MacOS script for this I would sure love to try that! Thanks!

Next time I have my Mac to hand, I’ll DM the script.

Cool! Appreciate that man!

@Purusha if you could send me that if possible would be great thank you. Email is liam@rittie.com

Sent it to you a couple of days ago…!?

@Purusha Could you post a link to the script on this thread? I think it’d be useful for anyone that trips up on this issue (including me lol) and finds themself here looking for what seems to be the best solution anyone has found!

Cheers!

Can’t at the minute. I’m on Holiday/vacation for a few weeks with no access to my files. Sorry!

Here you go. You’ll need a bit of knowledge on how to use scripts on MacOS and the line specifying the directory line will need modifying to point to the directory which holds your files.
