Piano Key mod

I was thinking about painting the step keys on the monomachine white so that you can easily see what not is what. Has anyone done this? Maybe white stickers would be better?

i used stickers for that at some point, but i noticed it changing my ideas to more ‘normal’ notation combinations etc. it’s handy for some work, but maybe too handy, leading to old habits (?) well, you could give it a try, since stickers are removable.

i use masking tape…easy to take off if it’s not working and it doesn’t leave residue.

little coloured stickers here.

residue is a problem but then my entire facepl;ate is pretty grotty from years of abuse

I’m not in front of my MnM right now, so I can’t confirm for myself, but, is there not some overlap of octaves on the keys when switching octaves? I think there is, and I wonder if this makes marking the notes on the keys obsolete once you’ve changed octaves?

I can’t play the keyboard in a traditional sense, so I just use the trig keys to hunt and peck tones, making melodies the best I can. Marking notes on the keys would be a waste of time and easthetics for me :joy:

Does anyone have a chart mapping out the trig buttons in relation to a keyboard? I’d be just as happy to just commit it to memory instead of marking up my Mono.

+1

Trig 1 is C, trig 2 is C#, … Trig 13 is C an octave higher than trig 1, trig 14 is C#+1, etc.

I also prefer not visually mapping the trigs to a keyboard since I find I get more interesting melodies tapping on the trig buttons without thinking about notes, but I see how it could be helpful to some.

ended up using white electrical tape. worked a charm.

That looks pretty cool. You have me thinking about doing something similar. Just thinking about it…

Actually, one thing I have been intending to do for a while now is putting some color on the main LEVEL knob (on both the MD and the MnM) because I am constantly grabbing it, instead of the first parameter control knob. This is especially true with the position of the main level knob on the MD (why the hell did they arrange the knobs differently between the MD and the MnM? …bugs the shit out of me)
