Any Phonon headphones users here? What’s your opinion about them?
Seems like quite a lot of people and “big names” love them (at least that’s the impression I got), but there’s not a lot of user reviews online.
Also, did anyone buy from their online store directly? Few days ago I ordered a pair of 4400’s from them as replacement for my old HD25’s, but I haven’t received any shipment confirmation still or anything except the payment confirmation email. UPD: just received a shipment notification, so their online store is working fine
I was looking into these a while ago. I found it quite weird, as you say, that there were not very many real reviews or opinions around. They did look really nice but this made me feel a bit uneasy… then I noticed that their UK store referenced something to do with 2018 which made me think it might be abandoned, so I contacted them asking and never heard back… so figured it was not meant to be!
I ended up getting Neumann NDH20 instead thanks to a recommendation on here (I was looking to replace DT770, so something a bit bulkier was fine) and they are amazing!
I saw they had a kickstarter campaign for the new model SMB-01 ealier this year. FB and Insta accounts are active as well. Quite bizarre. I understand that Phonon isn’t a big company and they are probably busy with this new model launch, but why leave customers with no reply at all?
Yes, I contacted them via Kickstarter asking if it was still possible to back the campaign after it had ended and got a reply there. I guess I could have asked about the online store too, but I think that ship had sailed in my mind
I‘ve the 4400 and bought it directly from their store 1 year ago.
Quality is really good, it’s light, comfortable and portable.
Cable is a little bit too long for me and not exchangeable.
Using it just for listening and not mixing.
NDH20 would be also my alternative.
SMB 02 User here. IMO the best Headphone under 1000€ . Plays way beyond its price . Very natural sounding like a good tuned speaker should sound. The details are amazing and the low end is like a magnifying glass . My only concern is the quite plastic build but that ist good for long Mixing sessions . With the Yaxi pads it’s even more comfortable .
