Pattern changes effect all patterns

Hey, newb here. When I change a tracks sample on let’s say, pattern 2, across all the patterns in the bank that sample will change. Started with the DT, where each pattern has its own fresh slate, am I missing something? or is the OT just drastically different to the DT in how patterns operate

In Octatrack each pattern belongs to a PART - when you edit the samples on a pattern assigned to a part, playback is altered for all patterns in that part.

work around for this is to either plock on the pattern you want the sample to play differently, or, feed DT live into OT

Yes . Parts. See the manual for more info on that.

Yes. OT is old elektron, before they started doing fixed architecture stuff.

Thanks! It’s starting to slowly come together in my brain, I appreciate the help

One other thing to keep in mind is that if you change the sample in a slot, it’ll change for the entire project.

It’s deceiving because in the preset file, every different pattern has different samples etc.

If I change banks I have new sample slots tho I think

No, it’s the same 128 slots for the whole project. You can change which slots the flex machine (for example) points to, but if you change the samples assigned to those slots, it’ll affect all banks.
