Does anybody know of a device in existence/under development which would let me plug it in the A4’s USB port, and it would convert channel-by-channel sound data into separate jack outputs, without the use of a computer?
I am pretty sure that this is doable with some reverse engineering and talent…
I think that you are being rather optimistic. What device, other than a “computer”, would decode the USB data stream and convert it into four audio signals?
Of course a device like this should have some kind of cpu… But it can also be cheap, think arduino/raspberry.
What I am referring to as not-computer is the form factor and that I don’t want to carry around a computer, rather a self-contained little ‘box’, which does not do anything else.
I wonder whether this is something that Elektron are looking into. I’m thinking somewhere along the lines of what Roland has done with the MX-1 for the Aira range of products.

Considering that Overbridge currently only works on Ableton I wouldn’t hold my breath. If you want multiple outs then consider the route of a physical hack - I think someone was making progress on this a while back but not sure if it ever came to fruition.

i’ll be getting hacking into a few things but not Elektron gear, besides, not really too interested in separate outs myself - i wonder if anyone asked about those points on the board, or maybe a few folk are watching their warranties count down before giving it a go - Daren has the skills, but I can’t see anyone offering that service given the cost of getting it wrong !!
