Some have questions, others have answers. Let’s share them here!
I was asked how one does output MIDI from an Overbridge Elektron to the computer.
I can get the trigs out when I press a button, I get the CCs when I turn none, but I can’t seem to output the notes from the sequencer.
Only way I found was to copy the trig sequence and paste it in a midi track.
Am I missing something?
Is Overbridge officially supported on Tahoe now? I think the language is ‘MacOS version (insert oldest supported version) and up’ where it used to explicitly say ‘up to Sequioa’.
Not on Tahoe yet but I’ve pointed out to a few people that had struggles that it wasn’t supported yet.
i think you are correct… on most boxes, if you want ‘midi out’ it has to be a midi device … the synth engines/sample machines work internally on the devices.
…
I’ve used it on Tahoe without issues
I’m sure a lot of others have as well. But, it hasn’t been officially announced as supported. The latest version removed that ‘up to Sequioa’ qualifier but nothing was mentioned specifically about Tahoe support in the release notes.
Some official clarity would be welcome ![]()
how to get it working in Logic from my Digitone Keys, for starters
afaict my Mac isn’t even recognizing the Digitone although I can pull up the plugin in Logic
When is that iPad app coming?
I start up overbridge then make an aggregated usb audio device with my audio interface and all the overbridge tracks, then in logic they just show up as an option for an audio track source. haven’t tried to record midi from it though.
Since I the only thread about the topic only has very few replies and I can’t find much at all about the topic, I’ll ask here; I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what’s going on. I actually only started using Overbridge recently. The problem is, I cannot automate scene selection from the OB plugin.
Since version 2.19.4, clicking on a scene in the plugin activates the scene and when I activate a scene on the Rytm, the OB plugin shows the active scene - with version 2.18.5 it did not work at all.
I can’t control scene changes from a midi track that sends the midi cc for scenes to the OB plugin (tried all 16 midi channels) and the scene changes I do manually are not recorded as automation into my DAW.
It works when I send midi directly to the Rytm, but the manual says we shouldn’t do that.
(It even says to not take audio from the jacks, whatever that means exactly - I mean, shouldn’t we record or monitor it alongside Overbridge or shouldn’t we even be plugged into the audio interface? The audio is coming out of the analog outputs regardless, soo…a bit confused what they mean).
It looks like scenes aren’t exposed to the daw as automation parameters. Clicking on anything in the OB plugin adds the parameter as automatable parameter in Live, but nothing happens when I click on scenes.
Do scenes work for you?
I’m on a Rytm Mk1 running OS 1.70, Ableton Live 12.
Edit; Same in Reaper 6. Scene automation is not recorded and they are not exposed to the DAW for automation.
I noticed an issue that when I close a cubase project with various overbridge total recall sync enabled plugins, then open another cubase project with similar overbridge set-up (or reopen the same project), the OB engine starts acting strangely and devices will no longer prompt to sync, or receive midi via Overbridge. Opening the engine view, I see the status tags of all my device quickly jumping between active and idle. Restarting the DAW does not help, but restarting the pc does.
I am on windows 11 with latest updates installed. I understand Windows got a new core midi service recently which is known to cause issues with some gear drivers, such as MPC. Perhaps, Overbridge is similarly affected by this?
