Overbridge question

Well it seems a new standard is in the pipeline. But still years away from now…

Just wondering about the “Time Stamped messaging for accurate timing and tight real-time performance”

And then the Electrons custom made technology?
Listen to Cenk on 05:05 in the SonicState update:

After seeing this video again there is still a lot of work to do on Overbridge after a year of development. I’m a bit worried about mention maybe for ProTools in the future. I hope the focus will soon be back on Elektron hardware!

I’m pretty sure that Cenk was talking about something along the lines of what Innerclock Systems are doing. Audio pulses being used to time the clocks instead of midi from the DAW to improve the sync. Some DAW’s have pretty bad midi timing with external hardware according to various reports, this should bypass that and provide much better timing.

You guys are right. For some reason I assumed Overbridge would help with managing samples but that’s not stated anywhere. In my mind, I don’t see why it couldn’t though. The GUI would simply be an interface that makes the same function calls C6 does.

can you use VST plugins within Overbridge standalone?

You can host a vst plugin in a variety software which loads VSTs, it needn’t be a full-blown DAW, it can be a very minimal affair … search the older posts on VST hosts for quite a few suggestions depending on your computing platform - apple do one specifically designed to test VSTs that is very minimal (AU Lab), but there are other options

Overbridge is a technology, there is a VST or AU to exploit it and you can do setting up in the control panel, but there’s no hosting within an OB standalone … to do anything interesting, even just loading the GUI then you need to host a plugin in something
