I agree with the
I agree with the,krusty!
bad work from the overbridge-developers!
Clickbait. That article is inaccurate and it takes 30 seconds to find that out. It downloads the upgrade, but it does not install it unless you grant permission. That is absolutely not the same as what Microsoft did with Windows 10.
If you actually read the article, thatās what it tells you. The code is still pushed to your Mac though, regardless. It just doesnāt install without a go-ahead.
Edit: Yup. I now have a sizeable amount of disk space being used by Sierra, which I didnāt ask for.
I did read the article. Itās still absolutely clickbait because of the association in the title. They know exactly what theyāre doing with it. But yeah, the auto download is definitely going to be annoying for some people.
On another note, I know quite a number of Elektron users who work in software and whose computers double as work machines. Staying an OS version behind purely for one application isnāt always an option, which is a reason why this stuff goes into public beta months in advance. If Iām building consumer software, I want my customers to use it and have a great experience with it, and knowing that a major OS update may affect that at some point in the future (with months of warning, I might repeat), Iāll do everything possible to enable that, like 99% of software developers do. Anyway, looking forward to using OverBridge again at some pointā¦
The Register is and always has been tongue-in-cheek.
They donāt do that kind of thing for click-bait reasons, mainly because they have their own audience of techies who understand the humour.
What does ālater this fallā mean exactly? I can understand, that testing is rather important, but if there is a bugfix, there will most certainly be a commit and a build containing this fix. Is it absolutely necessary to let people wait for a major release to get that issue handled?
I would even go with a beta for the moment, if there was a chance to get me back to work this wayā¦ seriously.
Heat is released this fall, meaning November-Decemberā¦ (this year fall I guess) with no precise date for now. As the Analog Heat will be released this fall, itās logical that Overbridge is Sierra Ready (letās say better) when Heat is in store. So new customer to buy an apple system this fall which will be in Sierra when 10.12.1 is in official status could use Analog Heat on his new system, otherwise customer will need to wait for use their overbridge part of AHā¦ on their freshly new bought system.
thatās how I understand what Olle said. In the meantime Thomann shop date for the AH is October the 28th so maybe this fall is this month fall ā¦ wait a bit and see
Normally itās relative to season like TV show but as it said (later) this fall I expect ending month (nov-dec) without date for now. But before December the 21ā¦ because then itās winter.
Then I apologise for the strong reaction
If december is considered fall, what month is winter?
as i said : But before December the 21 because itās winter then
thatās just my french interpretation of [later] that fallā¦
Anyway WAIT AND SEE !
December 21 is not a monthā¦
so December is winter month
Yes, take 21 away and you may have a pointā¦
Someone on the Access forum, reckons he/she has the Virus TI working by disabling SIP (System Integrity Protection). I wouldnāt necessarily recommend this as the best course of action, but if someone is really stuck and has to use Sierra, could be worth a tryā¦?
Actually few software developer decided to give up on development because of the SIPā¦ some other continu updates but not want to work on a SIP Sierra Ready version and give to their owner the possibility to continu to use their software but to their own security responsibility. I have not for now TRIED thatā¦ but i willā¦ I just recommend to the one who want to try that to WAIT A BIT THE NEW UPDATE 10.12.1 as Developer have 6 days ago the 10.12.1 beta 4 pushed ! New Macbook Pro coming later this fall (haha remembering another thread and make me smile anyway) with 10.12.1 installed as factory state.
In every case Mac Operating System is considered stable with the magic number 5 (10.11.5 ; 10.12.5)
But 10.12.1 seem to be a good starting point. And i guess Overbridge will not coming so late because of the release of Analog Heat, but i may make mistake here but i hope itās coming that way. If not i will give up and stuck to ElCapitan until all is ready. In fact in my configuration i just waiting for Overbridge to make the jump. All other things i have graphic design and music studio are READY to Sierra.
Edit : i forget UAD too : Universal Audio will be releasing a software update in November 2016 which will be the first step toward full Sierra compatibility. This UAD software update will allow Thunderbolt UAD-2 and Apollo products to operate under macOS Sierra, however full testing and qualification for Sierra will come later. We plan to offer full macOS Sierra compatibility in a UAD software update in early 2017.
By the way, RME are reporting that USB audio performance is greatly improved on their devices with Sierra.
Fingers crossed, when we get an Overbridge update, I might be able to get more than 2 stereo pairs (Rytm and A4) working!
Matthias said āApple is soon to release macOS Sierra, 10.12. What makes it a bit special for us audio freaks is that Apple continued to work on their USB stack, and also provides new libraries to be able to use the changed technology in full. According to our tests the result seems very positive for USB audio - it seems more stable, reliable and even quicker by making lower latency settings operational with less dropouts.ā. Various feedback indicates that this is indeed the case.
Do we have any update on the updated Overbridge version that will work with the latest Mac Sierra OS? i know it was due around same time as the AH availability so here we areā¦
Not dueā¦ Expected to be kind of sync together in a commercial logic ! but itās not a commitment from Elektron if i remember well ā¦ but soon i guess
Btw, Virus Ti users have done a bit of digging and come up with a solution for getting the existing drivers working on Sierra.
Thereās a chance that something similar could be done for Overbridge.
Edit: Thereās certainly an Overbridge .kext in that same directory, so there might be mileage in this. Anyone want to be a guinea pig? ā¦and it may also be worth seeing if the newly released 10.12.1 makes a difference.
