Has anyone built a good template around Overbridge in Ableton?
It seems like there a bunch of ways you could approach it… curious to see/hear success stories.
This is where I'm up to with it...
I’ve spent some timing building my own template that based around my A4 mk2, Rev 2 and Sub 37.
I thought it would be good to be able to just connect the A4 by USB and have a template with all the routings ready, but knowing how to link the midi and audio tracks, the fx track, where to put the OB plugin, etc, are all worth considering for the sake of efficiency.
I currently have 5 midi tracks, T1 - T4 plus a dedicated PC track set to the Auto Channel. I have these Grouped into one channel so I can launch them all with one click. (‘A4 Midi Grp’)
I then have the audio set up… one track to host the Overbridge plugin, then T1 - T4 Audio tracks (being fed from the OB track) and a copy of the master output to get just the A4’s FX. These are then all grouped together and sit in ‘A4 Audio Grp’.
‘A4 Audio Grp’ and ‘A4 Midi Grp’ get grouped together then, and sit in an ‘A4 Master’ track.
Additional to this, I have dedicated Resample tracks set up, taking their feed from ‘A4 Audio Grp’… I have the Resample Grp set to B on the crossfader, and the A4 on A; so it’s great for being able to record in and edit on the fly, with seamless transitions between ‘live’ and recorded.
