Oto biscuit / bastl microgranny

hi
i wasnt sure where to post this question , so here it is

i’m buying a few little diy boxes at the moment but im pretty sure the gear i already have can do what i need.

oto biscuit.
i guess its audio in > p lock parameters (distortion / bit crush) in its simplest form. it seems to have 8 steps , add a little delay in there somewhere.

micro granny … mangling audio in a granular way , real time slicing and manipulation via octatrack ?

heres the real question.
out of the following gear, which do you think is most suitable to get closest to their sound , assuming i want them to mangle external audio.

rytm , mono machine , machine drum , analog four , octatrack.
they all have some form of input / ability to effect … perhaps octatrack gets closest to micro granny.
point me in the right direction and i’ll head off into the woods.

thanks.

I’ve owned all these units except Monomachine and Microgranny. Nothing on that list is really going to get close to the Biscuit. The only unit you listed that has a bit crusher is the Octa, but its not that great as far as bit crushers go. I would go with Octa, but if I wanted bit crushing or lo-fi effects I just cop the biscuit. The Microgranny looks great. Bastl are releasing a new FX box soon which looks biscuit-ish, not many demos but I think there is one decent one on youtube.

nothing can replace my (beloved) biscuit !
most of the time i don´t use it as distortion/bitcrusher
there is a lot to discover with that machine.
the filters are excellent
at the moment I use it in der OTO mode (8-bit synth) -
it sounds very good too
a lot of good stuff in a little box - can´t be compared with
the OT effect.

aye to this!
the biscuit is grand when used subtly, and it has many many more applications than any of what elektron has to offer in the bitcrushing department.
i’ve owned a microgranny, and while fun, it’s fairly limited and a lil’ prone to the unknown. it’s cool and incredibly affordable, i just didn’t gel with it and found some of its midi capabilities lacking.

thanks for the info.

i did see a biscuit on ebay but the end price was £500 + , a little higher than what i’d like to pay.

I’ve also got nord micromodular and patchblocks, i’ll dig into some patches for those too.

im a bit lazy , would prefer to buy a new box than dig into manuals sometimes…but ive spent a lot lately…
