OT shutting down / crashing

Looking for any feedback of similar issue:
Running a sub mix into IN CD and using the filters and DJ eq to mix. I had the input gain up a bit. I havent really ised OT this way for mixing a track running into it. The OT freezes up everything goes blank except input lights and page lights:

The only thing I can think is I’m maxing out the input or something? I’ll be a bit gutted if it’s bricked. And thoughts appreciated. Cheers

I don’t have any insight specific to the OT but if it boots up normally after powering off and back on, I’d first check the DC in and make sure it’s fully seated because that behavior is similar to insufficient or inconsistent power.

Also maybe try it without the CF card in (just generic octatrack advice). Sucks though, good luck.

No, can’t be the volume level anywhere.

I’d check the Flash card, the PSU, and if those are both ok, If open the box, unplug and teplug the motherboard.

Will do. Cheers

hi guys

ive got an issue with my OT. wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. im thinking this must be a glitch rather than something ive done…

every time i start it up, it suddenly crashes after about 15 minutes. the screen goes blank, and the lights flicker quickly ad infinium (bottom half yellow/top half red.)

any ideas?

thanks for reading <3

first thing to do is a system test (iirc hold down FUNC as you power it on) and see what thats saying

and are you using the correct PSU? like, you havent accidentally swapped it over with another one somehow?

EDIT: and have you ensured you havent left the USB in it, plugged into your computer?

test mode report, everything says ok

Are you plugged into USB? If I’m remembering correctly, the OT has a problem when connected via USB and the computer goes to sleep, something like that, I’m not an octatrack guy so this is just by memory.

If you are, unplug it and check for improvement, if you aren’t then test mode would be your best first step towards figuring out what’s wrong.

This could be a defective CF card.

I would first backup everything there is on it.
(btw anyone reading this: backup time!)

Then try another one.

ok. good idea whether it works or not. thanks

no its not plugged into anything

is it a mk1 or mk2? just wondering if its a mk1 it might be approaching an age where the internal battery might need to be replaced, or re-seated… i dont have any direct experience of this myself but i recall seing a few issues posted on here with older MD’s/monomachines that required the aformentioned fix due to their age. Im just thinking out loud here tho

Elektron fixed it for me. Seems fine now. Cheers

thanks a lot christian. its a mkII.

i think the diagnostic tool you recommended said battery ok.

Write Elektron support seems the best to do asap. Try another compatible PSU.

I think I read similar behavior on Elektronauts…

Trying to remember now! It wouldn’t start and had lines on the screen I sent it back and they fixed it. Sorry there wasn’t much more to it than that. I will see if I can find the email from suport
