No, I’m only an intermediate (at best) OT user. We actually only need a book called “Previously on Elektronauts”. My post recounts one of @sezare56 ’s many great ways to use the OT.
Edit to add: … see also @coralhex and @stutech , previously on Elektronauts:
Right. Yes, a controller is definitely more hands-on. I really try to keep my rig minimal - so on that note, bear with me on another daft suggestion. It’s from the euro forum so I’m not taking any credit for it.
Basically, what you’d do is to swap the roles of the CUE and the MAIN outs. Then you can rock XVOL as your send, CUE as your (static) track volume, and AMP/VOL as a lockable/fade-able gain stage. That way you can still use the scenes workflow but hopefully get the flex you need.
I use cue outs as my master outs, so as to have a physical master vol knob. Couldn’t live without one tbh, all my other elektrons have one too so… IME living without a physical mastervol knob always ends up blowing up someones ears off eventually, doubly so whenever mics are involved
Obvsly running studio mode
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I use the studio mode and the headphone output jack is my physical output jack in this case. So the hp vol knob effectively becomes a mastervol knob.
And yeah, no master channel as track 8 here. I can’t spare a single track on my octatrack for such ”nonsense”, every track has a strict use
my typical track config is a like this

In cases where I don’t need a turntable & mic, the AR and A4 are input in stereo, othe…
These people are the “ninjas”.
