OT: Envelopes & Thru machines & modular OSCs

Hey guys,

I’m thinking about getting some modular equpiment and combining it with the OT. Basically I wanna get some sound generators and route them into the OT to use it as a Filter & VCA device. The only downside are the envelopes on the thru machines. I never tried them out before but all my tests of using them more or less like a regular synth’s envelopes failed. The attack doesn’t seem to have the usual effect. They just make the sound quieter but don’t get louder over time. And when I dial them to more than 64, I mostly don’t get any sound at all. Even if I trigger the track at the same time as I’m playing the note that is routed to the respective input.

I hope you can understand what I’m trying to say and share some light about this behaviour. So far, I tried out many different settings but I can’t get it to work properly.

Thanks

Hope this explains it a little better:

I’m not trying to use the envelopes to modulate other parameters, I want to use them on incoming audio.

Imagine I just got a OSC, no Filter section and no VCA. Then I route the audio output of the OSC to one of the OTs inputs to use its amp section and fx to “complete” the synth.

The problem are the envelopes in the thru machines. When using them on a regular Flex machine they behave as I would expect, increasing the attack will make the sample fade in and so on. But on the thru machines this doesn’t work. I expected that when I trigger the thru track the same time as I play a note on the modular OSC, I could use the OTs envelopes to also let the incoming audio fade in etc. But sadly that doesn’t happen. Increasing the attack doesn’t create a fade but just lowers the volume of the incoming audio without raising it over time.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or why that shouldn’t work. Hope you get what I’m trying to do. Any help would be appreciated as it would save me many modules.

Hey there.
I got your problem-.-but i am not experiencing your same issue.

I did a try feeding SH101 into OT’s C-input.
Then i loaded a THRU machine using C-input as source.

I recorded a fast audio to show that the AMP section works fine here.
And her’s the link: http://soundcloud.com/paralleke/sh101-into-ot-amp-section
I mean…passing the SH’s signal completely thru…or with short release then long release then long attack and release…then a shitty FXing :disappointed:

Your hold/release settings check out? What about the amp setup page? Could try switching those parameters around.

Or how about doing a page copy from the flex machine that’s working for you?
