What would you prefer…Vermona DRM1 MK3, or an MFB Tanzmaus as a partner to the Octatrack. I like the DRM1, but the idea of using midi notes seems clunky.
I sometimes use the OT with chained together samples from classic drum machines…I can imagine sequencing the DRM1 with notes would be a bit like that.
I guess it would be the same with the MFB although it does have a sequencer. I found a good deal on a Tanzmaus for €500 or the DRM1 for €450… currently am using a model cycles.
Tanzmaus all day. DRM1’s sound great, and have a much wider sound range, but no midi implementation beyond trigger and velocity so there’s so much more you can do with the OT’s sequencer with the tanzmaus.
Soundwise they don’t really have anything in common, tanzmaus is 808’ish and the drm1 is really it’s own thing.
you can program the Vermona DRM1 to listen to specific notes per “Instrument” by holding the trig and turning it on plus playing the note you want on it once or twice. The second sending should confirm it is receiving on that channel and pitch, turn the Vermona off and do next instrument same process. Means you can make the Vermona listen to the same signals as a Tanzmaus.
Also means Vermona DRM1 can accompany almost any sequencer. Sequencers who still send notes where volume is down (like in example the TR-8 does) do that nicely.
