I come once again to ask for your wise advices.
I try to configure a live set with both my Digitakt and Octatrack, but it turns out to be more complicated than expected for my simple mind.
Let me explain : I have 16 full loops (“songs”) as patterns in a big project on the DT that I would like to play like a DJ set with transitions.
The DT main output is sent to a THRU track in the OT, (T6), I have a resampling track for transition trick (T7) and a Master track for global effects (T8).
Other tracks on the OT are used as audio tracks to add to the DT pattern (long stereo samples, drum breaks, sound fx…).
The DT would be the slave of the OT and I would like to be able to send program change from the octatrack to the DT during my performance to switch patterns/banks in one trick.
(I did it all well until there)
My question is : The DT just has 8 banks, the OT, 16 banks.
Considering a bank = a song, how would you configure a set up like this one ?
it seems many people design their sets to use 4 patterns per song - 4 songs per bank.
I haven’t finished structuring my hardware live template yet, but because my songs are sometimes longish and progress strangely I will likely aim for 8 pattern songs - 2 songs per bank.
The extra banks on OT could be used to have some OT only songs, or keep them as empty template banks so you can experiment with new ideas without wrecking your main set
