OS Upgrade: Digitakt II 1.15

The combination of the new slice machine and the lostlvls sample pack has me gassing for a launchpad for immediate access to 64 slices.

Had wierd thing with slice machine on one of channels.
First trig it would register, but not others, if i put other trigs it would completely kill all sound.
If i use same sample and do everything same but on a new track it works as expected.
Anyone had something similar/same?
Channel with problem was saved and in track when i turned on dt2 today. Other channels were made in today’s session.
Even when i cleared all settings from problematic track it had same issues after trying to repeat it. If i change machine on this track it works as expected

The slices will still work on the different slot samples, but unless the samples are exactly the same length, the slices will be in the wrong places (it uses a fixed grid, no start/end adjustments for the sample itself).

That sounds like a bug, if we’re talking about slice machine … doesn’t it ?

Not a bug, just how it was designed. The grid is fixed based on the sample’s length when you first create the slice grid. If you then swap the sample, it doesn’t recalculate the grid to the new sample length. You need to re-slice it.

Ah, I see I misunderstood the original question.

What are you using to view the waveform ?

Overbridge?

Thanks … not a DAW user here.

boring question - which instrument to rule them all now with slicing, DT ii or OT ii

I’m going to go with OT still, even though it’s very close now. Only because some of the stuff you can do to mess with slices using the crossfader on the OT is pretty unique.

crossfader envy is a real thing and I won’t hear otherwise.

The crossfader mapped to a low pass filter, accessible while finger drumming slices is kinda where it’s at for me. I gave that up for a DT2 but I do miss it terribly.

Same here! Now I get that message everytime I turn on the machine and have to wait a few minutes for it to go away. :frowning:

Perhaps you’d like to explain this @curiouspassenger how you did that.

Finally had some time to play with the Slice machine and hooked it up to my DN2. Whoa! A whole of fun and totally vibing. Sigh… should I get rid of the MPC? The 3.0 sounds like everything I wanted in a standalone box but it is not as immediate and tactile as the Digiboxes. How strange, it doesn’t even have a touchscreen but it’s so much more intuitive.

Now we’ve got this update in the bag we can start asking for timestretching

Maybe MPC 3.0 suffers from the old “jack of all trades master of none” phenomenon

and granular!

I agree! On paper, it’s definitely more capable than the Digiboxes but I just can’t seem to knock out anything decent. Maybe it’s the genre of music I’m more into.

I agree. I never seem to enjoy the process with the MPC, whereas I never fail to find the DT2 inspiring and full of happy accidents. That stuff never happens for me with the MPC. On paper so capable but feels like work when this stuff should be fun.
