Kits are not lost when only formatting the SAMPLES area (which is all that is needed in case an error is found).
On the GRID machine you can p-lock the number of slices, which is not possible on SLICE machine. So there are differences, and some projects might use those features.
Big ups to the Elektron team. Happy to see this update and encouraged by the speed and consistency the new Darth Deuces are receiving them. The future is looking quite bright for the platform
Indeed !
In my case I formatted the projects as well for a fresh start.
why present a complicated solution when a simple one exists, i.e. polyphony?
there’s no hiding behind lack of computing power this time. they just need to put resources into building it.
Now, is Pizza coming to the one fifteen DN update… ?
Hope it’s vegan!
Hopefully not, I love me some real cheesy FM!
As a new Elektron user, I’m very pleasantly surprised at how quickly upgrades are coming out. Polyphony, though, is what I’d be most excited about. The Digitak 2 would almost be like a “new” Ensoniq sampler, if any of you still know them.
Unfortunately, I’m completely unfamiliar with technical requirements and possibilities. Perhaps a device needs to be designed for this from the beginning? I don’t know how much influence voice distribution has on the whole thing. For example, the sequencer… Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Polyphony would be awesome. “Das wäre der Hammer…” as we say here
Nice duo!! I have the same pair, really powerful set! Just love the fact they plays so nice together! Just had to show my happy couple as well
They also did this for a machine literally called Monomachine
I would love to see the DN2’s polyphonic voice allocation and layering system somewhere in the DT2. The DT2 doesn’t have the voice button like the DN2, but I think they could find somewhere else in the interface to access the voice allocation screen.
that would be a nice way to do it.
…and don’t get me started on how they could also introduce a multisampler feature - as many notes as you want to assign to as many samples, with pitch-adjustment to fill the gaps.
I was surprised to read this about the MkIIs – are you saying that the A4 MkII and AR MkII are pretty much exactly the same hardware as the earlier versions, just in larger cases?
If so, I didn’t realize this!
Yes
EDIT: what @natehorn said.
Essentially yes they’re an updated box, not a new version. You could still consider them an upgrade for various reasons but it’s the same specs and OS.
Some very minor additional differences, AR MK2 more than the others.
But they’re essentially the same.
Same as how the Analog Heat MK2 is essentially the same as the MK1, but the Heat +FX is a whole new version with different OS, spec and functionality.
Edit: What Fin said.
The Digitakt 2 is finally what I imagined it would be for me when I got it last year.
Thanks Elektron!
Is it possible to slice a sample, apply random locks to trigs, then use LFO to change the sample slot? In other words, will the slice locks apply to a different sample or only to the original one?
Maybe the only way would be to save slice presets to the pool.
An LFO destination of Preset Pool Slot would be handy…
It still miss real-time looper feature and granular synth for me to be the perfect sampler
