So apparently, for some reason, I have never posted the album from which my avatar comes. The art was done by a dear friend, and one day I’m going to actually get a print and put it on my wall.
The songs themselves were written over the course of a couple years while I explored hardware for the first time after a decade+ of using software. I was still finding my sound to an extent, but there’s a sort of thematic cohesion which still shines through in my opinion and I’m very happy with the album’s ebb and flow as a whole. I’m still proud of most of the compositions, and though I admit there are a handful of rough edges that current-me would sand down and a few compositional choices I’d make differently now, it still holds up for me on a relisten, which is ultimately all that matters. I made this album because it’s the music I wanted to hear at the time.
Anyway, I humbly share it here for anybody interested in what I have done in the past when I’m not yapping here. For fans of the Remedy games (especially Control), ambient music, the chill side of IDM, and mildly tongue-in-cheek but also way-too-self-serious introspection.
Mods, if I’m simply blind and actually did post this previously, feel free to delete or merge.
I can really relate to what you’re writing. I listen to my first EP from time to time and it’s full of rough edges and things I’d do different now. But it has a special vibe and unique parts that I wouldn’t achieve today because I’d overthink it.
I think I’ve listened to this a few years ago but honestly can’t remember much. I thought it was more DNB than ambient, but it sounds that’s totally wrong.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing and being open, I’ll give it a spin over the next days when I find the time!
Cover is great btw, but you know that. You could embeds it again so we can see it in more detail!
I woke up at 5 AM and couldn’t sleep anymore so I’ve listened to your Album. I really like the proposal. It immediately took me in a nice state of mind between dream and reality. I could easily get to sleep after the listening. Congrats on the release @m0ld , great Album with nice Textures, atmospheres and varieties.
