The XY arrived today. Happy to report no issues.
It’s dope! Everything as expected.
Synths sound super!
1.0.9 is a bit buggy. Looking forward to 1.10 or whatever the next one is. It will have some nice additions.

i agree - getting a surprising amount of inconsistencies, bugs, crashes. this thing is and will be great, but they really need to push a fw update so that it at least functions consistently and properly. unlike some of their other products, the hardware feels really solid but the software does not.
I just tried that too, the pad works for controlling the synth parameter and pb, as you can hear, but when the sequencer goes back around, it doesn’t play that back with automation. Even though you can see the automation in the BAR view

Just received mine today and noticed the same issue with the “level meter”, didn’t turn on even once. Can’t see the battery level unless I go to the system menu->battery submenu.
Every other user has it working or as i suspect… we have a faulty unit?
EDIT: Don’t know how, but it turned on now while playing some notes
that’s the only way that i can see the battery as well. is it supposed to be indicated somewhere else?
The OP-1f uses the dialog button to show the battery level instantly with the level meter. Not sure if the OP-XY has other ways than the menu… But the manual only says this about the link to that LED bar:
keep itconnected until the battery is fully charged, indicated by the level meter.
I got a reply from TE support today saying that they think it’s a software issue, which makes sense as everything works in other circumstances.
The reply:
hi Charlie,
thank you for contacting us! the one you are experiencing seems to be a software issue.
thank you for reporting this to us! we have now forwarded this issue to our dev team, they will look into it and try to find a solution as soon as possible.
Even their support emails are all lowercase!
Edit: this is the problem I reported:
We need to separate hardware from software issues.
The truth is that I really, really wanted to buy the OP-XY, but reading that it came out half-baked and with hardware problems puts me off….
Half-baked might be a bit harsh It definitely has some launch bugs, but it’s a perfectly capable device for producing full tracks in its current state.
With that said, does anybody know if its possible to use the multi-sampler for playing chopped samples? It is behaving a bit odd at the moment with pitches between different keys. The drum sampler works great but it is treated as a percussion track when using punch-in FX.
Hey all I just made a multisample of my favorite piano. Get it here for free.
Thanks for the update!
After some testing, can report that I have the same behaviour with my unit while microphone sampling… I’m glad it’s not hard related
Thay are still tuning things up after launch.
I have a theory about what’s going on here…
I finally connected my XY to my computer to have a look at the MIDI data being transmitted. It seems that sometimes the pitch bend button continues to send messages after being released. On my XY it’s happening almost always after letting go of bend up. Sometimes it’s just for a second, other times it can go on for quite some time, especially if letting go of the button slowly.
When the pitch bend button is being used, it overrides any pitch bend automation on the track. So, I believe these post-release messages likely explain why the automation isn’t playing back.
On my unit, I found that pressing bend down and letting go usually got the bend automation to start playing back as expected.
The good news is that I’m pretty certain this will be fixed once we are able to calibrate the pitch bend button.
Here’s a video:
yes of course! you’re so right.
I didn’t know that the pb input would override the automation data.
it makes perfect sense because my pitch bend is doing exactly what yours is:
when I’ve used it in the upward direction it sticks just above the midpoint.
occasionally, when I press downward (mostly only if I press firmly near the middle) it will stay centered. I can try to get it centered tonight and see if it plays back the automation properly, but i’m almost positive it will.
are you sure that calibration will fix this? I hope that it does, and to me it seems like a calibration issue at this point, potentially not hardware. But i’m reluctant to hope too much.
Is there any idea given on when we could test pitch bend calibration? it could save a return hassle…
Can confirm this is exactly what’s happening with my unit. Calibration will reset the center value well but then I’m still dealing with these extra messages after a press so… You have to calibrate after each press which is not realistic.
Are you saying you’re already on 1.0.10 and the calibration tool isn’t fixing the issue? Also, is this with your original unit, or did you get a replacement?
Hooked my XY up to MIDI Monitor to check PB. It bounces back to zero no matter where I press on the PB. No extra messages after releasing. Seems to be a very sensitive sensor in there.
Hopefully new firmware can fix it for people with issues.
For $2300 and considering not everyone is seeing this PB issue, I would definitely warranty it and send it back for a replacement myself. Sucks not having a unit for awhile, but in the meantime they’ll continue to fix bugs and the OS and hopefully things are better by the time you get a working unit.
I just received my replacement and I’m also having an issue where pitch bend seems to record but does not play back. I can see the gray line while in the BAR menu after recording it. It just does not have any effect on playback. I hooked it up to my MacBook over usb to check on midi monitor. As soon as I press Aux 3(midi) it seems to be constantly and continuously sending pitch wheel data in the range of 600-800 without ever stopping. This happens on any project including new projects. I have also tried a factory reset with no change.
This is already my second unit, the first had a rough turning knob. Very disappointing to say the least. I am awaiting word from TE after contacting them just now.
Hey, team. You can determine which tracks go to the tape, but does anyone know if you can determine which tracks go to the punch-in FX?
I was hoping the 1-4 keys or a shift-press would do it, but I can’t seem to pull it up, which makes me think it’s not possible. My hope is to melodic punch-in FX without the bass being affected.
