Could you send tape track only to the multi out and record it from there?

You could pan it left and everything else right? Would just be mono though of course

looks like the tape track can only send to FX 1 + 2

the tracks i’m sending to tape have dynamic panning, so i need to preserve stereo. good idea tho!

Send everything to the ext track except the tape track? Tape might come out of the master solo then?

This should work!

AAAAND… that advice to revert back to 1.1.3 did the trick! Brilliant! So to anyone having this “boot lag issue”, it appears 1.1.3 does not exhibit this behavior whatsoever.

I’m gonna hang here on 1.1.3 until TE produces a clear fix to this specific issue. Kind of a shame, because the new features in 1.1.15 are cool… but having a unit that fires right up and doesn’t freeze is MUCH cooler.

Thanks so much for the heads up!

I talked to Jonas at TE regarding the slow down issues and it seems that the systems can sometimes end up in a state where the systems has a lot longer access times. And doing a factory reset should in most cases solve the issue since it reformats the file system.

I did a factory reset before the update and then uploaded my samples/soundpacks afterwards. It still takes 75 secs to boot. So unless I’m an edge case…

A factory reset (after updating) worked for me. My startup time is back to normal again.

For me too!!!

Out of interest, have you loaded your samples and sound banks on to the OP-XY after the update? For me, this seems to be what causes the problem.

I have my assets – about 5GB worth – in nested folders (within TE restrictions on how many folders you can have) and I’m back to extended boot and loading times.

At first I backed up my three user folders via field kit, then I performed the factory reset and then I restored my data.

My user data is about 2 GB at the moment, mostly self-made multisample presets. To keep loading times short, I generally make sure that all the samples in a multi are 16-bit/44.1 kHz. Beside this I follow the filename conventions described in the manual.

Hi Folks,
I just got my Opxy and just wondered if anyone had created 8 bit internaly synthesised drums presets?
Im trying to see if the synth engines can be manipulated to create these percusdive chiptune sounds?

Thanks for the info.

Lead the way!

At one point early on I did try this just to see how far you could push things. I have no recordings of it and I didn’t save anything. It’s definitely possible, just not the fastest way to a good result.

So right up my alley. Maybe I’ll try again tonight.

yeah i think the synth engines on the field are more tailored to this but hopefully OPXY will get a synth for drums like the DBOX one day.
I will have a look into it. Theres something satisfying about creating your own drum sounds from synthesis.

I managed to make an entire track out of just the wavetable synth, drums and melodic parts etc. was a fun experiment but not easy.

The new track rotate feature. Does anyone notice step components stay where they are in the sequence? I assumed they’d move with the note trigs…

just tried, unfortunately it does not.
sent all my instrument tracks to multi-out, then set ext track mix to 00 to remove those instruments from the main mix. as soon as they are removed from the main mix they stop sending to the tape track.

guess it’s time for a feature request!

I have been noticing weird glitches with the tape track when I parameter lock the pitch (say 5, 3, 2) and sequence clips/notes on the keyboard. The global length of the clips is usually a bit long (say 3 or 5). Every so often there is a burst of noise. This is with updates from 1.15 thru 1.18. I noticed that the playback heads maybe overlap then a glitch noise can sometimes occur. I sent a report to TE. Anyone else experienced this?
