OP-XY/Z User Thread

Remember folks, this is Elektronauts, not the TE support forum.

Expecting TE employees to be prowling the forum posts looking for individuals to reassure seems pretty unrealistic.

That’s a good reminder, but David from TE literally did forum engagement here instead of on the TE forum for the EP-133

There’s no denying this forum has weight as far as forums go

So I haven’t heard much talk about the filter envelope but wow this so much for sound design. I didn’t realize how much I was missing it on the op-1f until now.

Yeah, that’s obvious. I’ve been to the OP-forums and most of the discussion about the pitch bend issues is on Elektronauts so I want them to see how much it is being discussed and how many people are complaining here.

FYI I also sent an email directly to them too.

Which doesn’t exist. So here is as good a place as any I guess.

Got mine. The build quality is a thing to behold, or just hold.

No pitch bend issues.

Luckily I recently came to terms with the fact that I need readers, so some of the small fonts are not an issue for me.

Time to dig in.

Can you monitor the internal mic if you plug a jack into the aux input?

I guess I haven’t been following too closely, but I think I remember two or three people who have confirmed the pitch bend issue? Has there been that many more?

That sounds about right. 3 or so and complaints about calibration/constantly sending midi messages when not being used.

Yes. That works. I plugged Apple ear buds in. Don’t have anything else do try at the moment.

**Encoder value scaling issue in LFO**

This issue is pretty minor, but pertains to the encoder functionality on the LFO page (and possible elsewhere on the device)

For the white encoder, on the Element and Value LFO’s even the slightest turn can get you from first to last parameter, maybe 30 degrees of rotation.

On the random LFO it’s much slower, maybe 45 degrees of rotation per parameter.

This all depends on speed of rotation too, because it’s using constant input to know that you’re actually turning, that said if you test it I’m sure you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about.

Again, this isn’t really an issue, but it’s something that when you’re going around the device you might start noticing inconsistencies in the workflow and, well it was enough to notice.

My biggest fear here would be being past a return window or warranty window. Because it’s device-altering and TE hasn’t yet said if this can happen over time, or if it’s broken it would be out of the gate and can’t develop overtime.

So for folks looking at OP-XY, I think you should identify a retailer with a ridiculously luxurious warranty period (I’ve heard Thomann is good and I’ll have to look into B&H’s to see if I want to reorder)

That was damage control though and by that point a lot of people had already bought it, how many people on this forum actually purchased an XY vs the number who currently own an EP-133?

I think Pmags is probably right, that while I wouldn’t doubt someone will be by to check on things, they might not be as present on a Friday night or Saturday morning.

Same. I’ve heard complaints about TE’s customer service. Actually, it’s just ridiculous to have this type of issue at the cost of $2299. I could open mine, find no issues, and then suddenly have the issue once I can no longer exchange for a new unit.

I’m willing to pay the $2299 premium for this if it isn’t defective. I really hate buying defective shit and dealing with it though. I hate it a lot.

isn’t that the same with any device tho?

not to make light of the issue. we have no idea if it’s widespread or not yet. there’s generally an issue or 2 with all launches. digi screens, rytm pads etc.

I’ll tell yiz how mine is in about 10 days :grimacing:

Agree with this. The OG-Z’s pitch bend was more of a novelty, and therefore took a backseat to all the other features added later on.

This new pitch bend is awesome in use adds to the recorded composition , therefore needs to work 100% for every unit that leaves the factory.

I ordered mine before reading about the multiple cases of people having pitch bend issues. I most likely wouldn’t have ordered if I had read them first and would’ve waited.

I thought that there were 2 threads so people didn’t have to look at complaints about price in this one, just talking about usage. I mean, not that I disagree, but otherwise I don’t understand why this device needs 2 threads.

I bought one. Stating a device that costs this much shouldn’t be defective isn’t the same as “complaining” about cost.

it’s very confusing :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
