Omg reencode to 11khz!! Amazing mate super useful
Great work! Thanks.
Perhaps worth mentioning that the XY has a max of 64 megabytes sample memory so if you use that ‘max 20 seconds per sample’ you will run out of memory sooner than later resulting in the XY not loading samples anymore if anyone was wondering why that happens.
That’s why I always make sure that my multi/drum samples aren’t exceeding the 8 megabytes per patch
That was something the source tool originally had, which was one of the reasons I was using it. It was just missing other features I wanted too.
Might be a good idea for me to add some warnings, but also some type of patch size indicator to show how close to the max you are.
Living in hope it’ll be a built in sampling feature in future
this is awesome. i’m making a kit right now and i noticed that the y and h keys on the virtual keys are flipped around, playing the samples that the other should play.
Fixed that there. Thanks for letting me know.
I don’t want to clutter up this thread, so I’ve created a new topic for this - Unofficial OP-XY tools
Hey everyone,
I put together a guide called Ambience as Ritual—a deep dive into ambient sound design, performance, and composition, originally built around the OP–1 Field and OP–XY. That said, the techniques and approaches inside can be used with pretty much any gear, including Elektron machines.
This started out as something I made for myself—just a way to organize thoughts, patches, and creative ideas around making ambient music. But after a while, it felt like something others in the ambient and experimental scene might find useful too. So I cleaned it up, expanded it, and turned it into a proper PDF.
If you’re into sculpting textures, layering evolving drones, or just exploring new workflows for ambient and electronic music, you might get something out of it. Happy to share it with this community.
This is a very nice gesture, and very helpful!
I really enjoy your OP-XY packs, I bought them all. I can recommend them to every OP-XY (ambient) user.
Hey thx! so nice to hear.
Ive been busy with family stuff, watching Anime and playing video games lately, not really feeling like making music. But yesterday I got back up on the horse and started digging into the OP-XY once again…
Here’s a sloppy arrangement of something that’s starting to resemble a song…
I’ve added some singing which was recorded from the OP-XY mic into a drum track and then sequenced by the XY. I also added a guitar part which was sampled from me just goofing around on my electric guitar running into my pedal board, it serves as some sort of outro.
Song mode keeps tripping me up because no matter how many passes I make the verse scene always starts with the vocals mid verse…
there’s so much in this update but I don’t really understand any of it
Great, that’s a lot of fixes. Just ran into the long name one running into the pen icon last night in fact
Copy and paste scenes will be most welcome too.
amazing, on deadline day for work as well. Will get some beers and dig in this evening
Songmode/LFO fixes and improvements very very welcome.
Yeh, lots of fixes (although personally I hadn’t really come ac cross a lot of these)
They could have thrown in some more fun stuff, maybe they are saving that for 1.1!
Yeah I don’t think this is the big update they were talking about… but very welcome with more fixes
now in arranger you can hold shift and + - to scroll thru scenes, rather than shift and number keys. is that new?
I haven’t used my xy in a while, but that was on my wishlist. maybe it was always there and I just didn’t twig it
either way I’m very happy to have it. much better ux than number keys. thanks te
I think it was introduced 1 or 2 updates ago
