OP-XY/Z User Thread

So you guys like it then??

This case will have basically the same dimensions as the Decksaver for the OP-1 and thay fits in the case with it on, so im sure the OP-XY will too.

Thats how I use mine.

You actually can use multiple tracks for drums and don’t have to stick with 1. I usually use 3 and many of the demos use 2. It is annoying not having per sample envelopes though. Spot on with that one, but man even with that flaw the device is great. Very easy to lay out a full fledged tune. If you’re on the fence I’d say playing with one within the return window would be a good shot since you really would want to know if it fits into your workflow and the usual 30 days would be more than enough to get an idea if keeper or not.

Side note: I submitted per sample envelope feature req several times. Hope it’s received many by others too. TE support said they focus their priority for features on the popularity of requests.

Does the mono / poly option in the drum sampler have any effect? I’d expect it to turn that track monophonic but it doesn’t seem to do anything at all.

Is there a place where I can find multisample packs for the XY? I know https://op1.fun/ but that’s not for multisample packs.

Hmm maybe it ignores it, there is the choke group you can toss samples into which will do monophonic playback on anything in that within the drum sampler. But yeah you would think mono mode would take priority

Exactly. I’m gonna report this as a bug. Since there’s only 1 choke group anyway, it would be great if “mono” had the effect of putting every sample into the choke group. It would be a timesaver when using the drum sampler for sample chopping

Still no big reviews like from loopop or Cuckoo? what’s going on? is TE stopping them?

Wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t send one to loopop and if loopop is getting enough free stuff he won’t bother with spending to do his typical video manual type treatment of it.

Cuckoo is hard to say maybe he has/had some insight on coming updates and wanted to wait until it stabilized as a product… I imagine we will see his run down on it somewhat soon.

What if new songs were automatically named after the day’s date? I think that would be useful
Re-naming with the knobs is brutal lol

going nuts with the encoders when naming tracks I end up with some mad look aphex type titles

but yea id love a random name function meself. love those yokes.

Dreaming of future updates where drum tracks can somehow be separated and stem saved from song mode. 3…2…1… play entire track, rinse repeat, split the long file, then line up all the lead 3…2…1 segments. Now your 8+ track file can be developed further w/o all drums smashed into 1-3 tracks.

I wonder has TE ever done an update that isn’t backward compatible? If not guess fundamentally the XY will only ever have its current features developed but never changed radically? Would love a more advanced song mode but think it’ll always fundamentally be scene chaining.

Would love to be able to chain tracks independently of one another and work to a bar counter but think that’s wishful., really grateful for scene cloning at least!

I think calling them “songs” and having 99 of them per project is confusing and it would be awesome if they could be more like “sections” and could have follow actions for switching between sections.

@MichaalHell I actually figured out what was happening here. It’s not the copy/paste that’s the issue. In the new pattern I might have multiple drum samples on a certain step with a step component too. The issue is if any of the hits/notes are removed the step component is also deleted. Strange behavior.

For scale…Tip of a pencil resting on the glass.

Text size is way too small. This is poor, and interesting that this easy fix hasn’t been addressed.
It’s amateurish.

The beauty of High Resolution displays affords the luxury of micro sizes in UI.

Been wondering about the SVF filter, isn’t it supposed to be a morph able low/band/high pass filter? Surprised there’s no band pass option yet…

That’s how they are sometimes done, but SVFs don’t have to function that way. They can (for instance) just change the resonance amount or cutoff shape based on cutoff amount too.
