One Track "choking" sound/fx of other track

Hi everybody,

I am having a – to me – very bizarre problem on the DT 2. In my pattern there are just 5 tracks. On track 4 there is a synth line with a lot of reverb and delay on it. I noticed that when all 5 tracks are playing, there was a clicking sound at the end of the phrase of this synth line, and, more strangely, delay and reverb of that track get “cut off” somehow. After some muting and unmuting I found out that this only occurs when track 2 is also playing – even if it is just Tracks 2 and 4, and the others are muted. If I mute track 2, track 4 is playing as expected and delay and reverb continue after the end of the phrase …

Any ideas? Thank you.

Do you have the NEI trig condition enabled? That’s about all I can think of, but not sure how they’re interacting to cause what you’re describing.

Thanks for your thoughts. No, no NEI conditions involved. There is just one single trig on the first step for all of the tracks as they are just playing back 2-bar or 4-bar samples. Also, if just the trig weren’t triggered for some reason this would not account for the fx being cut. I wonder how that is even possible. In the Analog Four f. ex. there is an fx track where the volume of the fx can be manipulated. But that’s not possible on the DT2, as far as I know.

Is it a case where Track 2 is the side chain source for the compressor and only Track 4 is being routed through the compressor? It’s a bit of a stretch as you would have to have made a lot of deliberate choices to get to that point. This would, at most, only duck the effects and not choke them off completely.

Have you any external midi gear connected?
Might be some sort of loop although doesn’t explain the fx getting cut off

Hey everybody,

thanks for your thoughts. Interesting ideas indeed. It is fun to see how much Elektron users are used to thinking creatively. I think this is very much inspired and encouraged by these great instruments.

As to my problem, it seems to have been a temporary glitch. When it happened, of course, I turned off the DT2, but this did not change it. But when I returned to it the next day, the phenomenon had vanished, although the setup was completely the same. I was first doubting my hearing, but especially when I had had just tracks 2 and 4 running, it was very obvious. Well, let’s hope it does not occur again. Problems which cannot be reproduced are the worst. Thanks again. I will let you know, should this resurface.
