Machinedrum can do the TR sounds but can get sooo weird. Nothing quite like the ctl-all function, or all the lfos. I’ve had mine for quite a while and still surprise myself every time I use it.

I’ve not had the pleasure of trying a Machinedrum. I know Elektrons are amazing for creating fun and amazing rhythms and percussive paterns and they make some of my absolute favourite machines, but what makes the 8s a favourite for me, is just how playable it is for improvisation. The way motion record is implemented and the step loop function works are two of my favourite features. Hopefully I’ll get to try a Machinedrum someday!

I really need to take the Syntakt for a ride! As I said above, love the AR but the reason for moving on was the MKII footprint.
Machinedrum UW or TR8S/TR6S. Both really fun instruments with different approaches to performance.
Machinedrum can do it all but has a quirky workflow, TR for really hands on playing and immediacy.
Machinedrum Mk2 UW+

Tbh, is the only one I have now. Sold my Volca Drum because sound design is not my thing, and I’ve heard x0x ad nauseam…

Going out on a limb here (not really), but: AR MKII – love that thing. Sampling my OG Digitone and A4 MKII and mixing those sounds with the onboard synth sounds of the AR is THE BEST. Scenes and performance controls are a blast, and along with the sequencer make for some really dynamic possibilities. I know there are nearly endless options out there (and one of these days I’ll get my hands on a Digitone II, largely for the rhythm stuff), but I’m so glad I bit the bullet on the AR MKII and really dug into it.
