OLED display for Elektron Mk1 Analog devices (Four, Heat, Keys, Rytm)

I also would like to replace my A4 mk1, AR mk1, and AK with the second batch, can’t wait, and great to hear that you are working to make it even better <3

I think the main issue is that many users have switched from the MK1 to MK2 analog RYTM’s, and most people are hesitant to start DIY projects on sophisticated gear like this. In my opinion, it’s important to have ways to maintain the functionality of older technology by ourselves, as it’s better for the environment in the long run. However, your work needs to be more promoted so that people are aware that it exists. For example, in most modern videos, they use the MK1 with screens that are barely visible anymore. It would be awesome to see a MK1 in those videos with a shiny new OLED! If I saw such a video, I would be 100% tempted to get one for myself if I didn’t already know this was possible.

If you’re not planning on making a second batch, perhaps it would be feasible to take the open source approach, allowing people to order their own PCBs and parts, and print the frame themselves. The biggest obstacle for me would be flashing the microcontroller.

I’m also interested - I’d definitely buy one of these if they were available

I’ll defo buy one if someone in Dublin would like to fit it for me. (seriously)

I haven’t had the time to install mine yet. Will hopefully get round to it soon. Bought an engineer solder sucker and some flux in preparation. Will post with an update.

About the promotion - that’s a great food for thought. I am of the philosophy that I should not be focusing on any promotion, but rather on great implementation, solving any issues, try finding easier ways for people to install it.

And I am going to do batches, while there is a demand. I hope that early June I can ship out.

So I think I won’t be open-sourcing yet.

And about flashing - those who got one, might have noticed, that there is a micro-USB on the PCB… that’s how I flash the firmware with any computer (it can’t be easier than that).

@pidgeo, maybe later I can have a search for a repair technician local to you who can do it.

Hi Tim here, I reached out on ebay.

ok I found a local synth tech. defo want one of these in the next batch

1x yellow please

Great work! I would be very happy to get one as well!

Not sure how I missed this thread but I would take 2 white oleds (one for my A4 and one for AR) to match my OTmk2.
The LCD’s are starting to have issues despite me adjusting contrast.

Seriously, I’m in. Do you know what the rough cost would be for 2 shipped to US? (If you are still offering them).

@zigmars any word on the 2nd batch yet?

I need two White pls

very interesting project.
i assume that oled has different controller than the original lcd. how did you make it work if it is not a secret?

@infekted @zigmars created a conversion board.

very neat solution indeed. i was thinking about the same thing when was exploring yamaha dx100 oled upgrade. my insufficient knowledge in hardware/software department didn’t allow me to identify suitable cpu/mpu so i did alterations in firmware to make it work. iam really impressed how elegant and fast your design is. excellent work.

This morning the new batch arrived.
Though that does not mean I can ship already.

Have yet to program & test everything, must test that it still fits into the Elektron Analog XYZ case, etc.

I’m still down for two black and whites (like the OTmk2 colors) for my AR and A4.
Not sure if you have a sign up list or not but please let me know what you need from me

Still down for 3 for A4 AR AK <3
