OG Digitakt Users may want this cheapass mono pedal

Hi there, I just stumbled upon this pedal in a freak Craiglist bundle sale and thought I’d share what I found out. Long story short, a CL seller was selling his Microfreak and a “multifx guitar pedal” for a super cheap price, and I’ve been after the MF so I said sure! Bonus FX pedal sounds great as a bonus. The pedal turned out to be an “iSet Cube Baby” guitar pedal which is a super cheap (below $50USD) Chinese guitar pedal that has been sold under multiple other names.

I put Grok to work on how I would use it with my current setup (SP404mk2, OT, DT and newly Microfreak.) I intended to add effects to the MF with the CB (CubeBaby) but in learning more about it realized that it also allowed pairing over Bluetooth with a phone. Then I discovered that the pedal would sum the stereo bluetooth signal from the phone down to mono. I had already assigned the DT as my MF + CB pedal input, so it was only natural that I realized I could sample stereo audio from my phone and have it summed instantly into mono from a separate device, with the option of adding effects before my DT even received the signal.

I ran a few music samples from my phone through the CB into my DT and they sound amazing! This feels like such a game changer, especially as I still haven’t even started ripping on my MF into said pedal, that can also have a backing stereo to mono track from my phone mixing in real time and being mangled by it’s onboard FX.

What a fucking whopper of a value add!

Cool, thank you for sharing!

I’m slightly confused…
What’s the benefit to a cable?
I need this device and Bluetooth pairing anyway, at that point I already connected my phone to the digitakt faster.
For live input the problem stays the Bluetooth latency.

For effects… Are they good? If not, I’d argue koala sampler on the phone and a kabel give you more flexibility and less latency. And if you connect the digitact you can trigger the samples via a midi channel etc, making room for systematic resampling of more.

Actually. Damn, I think I just figured out how to use the koala app as a live looper with the digitakts sequencer…

Still thx for sharing. Some maybe have such a pedal (thers a couple, the Bluetooth is meant for a backing track while you play guitar or bass to for practice) and never thought of this option

A good example of what happens when you ask AI to do the thinking for you. Gives you the most convoluted path from one destination to another when all you needed was an audio cable.
