when I see this internet toughguy schtick all I can think of is a man walking around in public with a comedicly over sized dildo hanging out their pants while screaming at the top of their lungs “I AM A REAL MAN AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO INSECURITIES WHATSOEVER!”

Users aren’t banned for first time infractions.
First their behavior is addressed, either publicly as part of a group of violators in a problem thread, or privately by inbox message.
Then, if guidelines violations continue, they are warned.
Only after that may posting privileges be revoked.
If upon returning to the forum following a temporary loss of privileges, they continue to violate guidelines, the moderators discuss and decide on whether or not to proceed with a more lengthy period of suspension, or a permanent ban.
