Hello fellow Octatrackers,
Anyone out there running similar setups?
I would like my octatrack to sequence my Roland tr 707 which syncs a Roland tr 606, and a Roland TD12, and a DSI Mopho.
Worth a shot asking.
Hello fellow Octatrackers,
Anyone out there running similar setups?
I would like my octatrack to sequence my Roland tr 707 which syncs a Roland tr 606, and a Roland TD12, and a DSI Mopho.
Worth a shot asking.
It’s not clear to me what you’re asking. Are you having problems with your setup?
Yes. I can get the Octatrack to send transport messages to the tr 707, and the td 12, but the tr 606 does not seem to respond.
I am running the octatrack ax the master connected to the 707 which has both midi and cv outs, but ghe tr 606bdoes not respond to incoming messages, and only will join the party if it is the master. At the end of the day, this is the chain I want.
Octatrack:TR707:Tr606:Td12:Kaossillator:KP3:DSI mopho:CasioCZ5000 and feed the audio back into the Octatrack for sampling or whatever.
This is my second day of owning this wonderful machine, and I am making my way through the manual like a good boy.
But this roadblock is stopping me in my tracks.
I have lots to learn, and am excited to become fluent in all this baby has to offer. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe a dumb idea but I have a 606 and this has caught me out a few times:
Have you switched the 606 sync switch to input?
Yes, I have also made sure my connections are good.
I can get the 606 to respond to the 707 when the 707 is the master, but when I put the 707 to midi sync, and slave it to the Octatrack, the 606 bails on me.
I have been able to successfully send clock msg as far as
Octatrack:Tr707:TD12:Dsi Mopho.
And then my kaossillator ignores clock msg.
Can’t wait to figure this all out.
I really don’t want to leave my 606 out. It is the centre of my sound.
AK, what are you using as a midi/CV converter?
And are you getting your 606 synced up to the Octatracks sequencer?
I’m lucky enough to have Analog Keys, so using the midi out on that in ‘sync24’ mode to clock the 606, Octatrack is just sending clock and transport to the AK.
Strange, sounds like maybe the 707 can’t do midi sync and sync24 at the same time?
Alas, the 707 cannot transmit DIN sync when it is receiving midi as a slave unit.
And from the sounds of it, the Octatrak does not send DIN sync msgs. Looks like I need even MORE hardware.
Thinking for now, I am just gonna sample all those pesky drum machine’s sounds, and run them fr within the Octatrack while I tackle learning the machine itself. I know it’s me and not this fantastic machine, but it’s frustrating in that this is the first pc. Of gear I’ve brought into my setup that needed to be learned just to get going.
